An All time favorite of mine.

This is by far one of the best games i've ever played, i own the physical copy plus the steam and GOG version, the main campaign is great and so are the several modules you can play. A lot of people commenting on bugs but i've never had one, maybe i'm lucky but i feel its an overreaction, i've played this on both steam and GoG and i've never had a problem, the game runs great on every pc i've played at. I think this is my only review but i had to do it since i feel the rating doesn't really match the great quality of the game.

Technically flawed and not that fun

BioWare's first 3D rpg is imho an utter failure. The graphics are vastly inferior to the IE games - 3D technology just wasn't ready at that point. The game play is very combat focused. If you enjoyed the Icewind Dale series, you might feel at home here. However you shouldn't expect the same level of tactical options since you're only controlling one character and your followers cannot be controlled. Path finding, navigation and controls are really bad, as is the AI in general. Prepare for frustrating moments. Sounds are recycled a lot, there are few (if any) stand out tracks in terms of music. The story of the original is ok, the expansions are slightly better. But keep in mind: Most of the time you'll spend fighting enemies instead of exploring or role-playing. The story is not the main focus. Level design is pretty rough as well. All areas (yes, really all) are squares, with corridors forming a maze. They all look very same-y. If you're a really hardcore D&D fan you might want to check this game out - but expect a lot of rough edges.

Reading is key.

I own the game on another platform and I can say it's decent, I get that ppl are mad because of bugs and stuff but some just aren't able to read the description. If u buy this Version u also get the diamond version added to your account. Wich is the better version as ppl say.

Lots of misleading reviews for this one

As expected many people rate this game poorly simply because they are immediately and mindlessly against any "Enhanced Edition" game. Ultimately this one is worth it, as it makes no controversial content changes, has lots of improvements especially for multiplayer via NWSync, nice engine improvements as well which mostly benefits modders, and is now multiplatform and 64-bit. I've docked a point since some new versions introduce new bugs that Beamdog doesn't always fix in a timely manner. I've been suffering from an annoying edge case for several versions in a row now, in which key NPC corpses carrying quest items do not drop the quest item unless I reload my save. The main benefit with Enhanced Edition for players is that it exclusively has two new premium modules that were cancelled for the original game but expanded on and released for Enhanced Edition: Darkness Over Daggerford and Tyrants of the Moonsea. Both of them are also by far the best premium modules for the game. And for new players, obviously ignore NWN Diamond Edition and get this one. Neverwinter Nights is by far BioWare's best game: their best role-playing effort, by far the most content rich and best gameplay design and best moddability of all of their games, and probably their best writing in their official expansions for the game. This and NWN 2 are by far the most complete D&D video game RPGs ever made; you get 11 campaigns, so many mods, so many classes and feats and abilities and probably the most creature types of any game. And if you use the PRC mod, you end up with by far the most complete implementation of any one version of D&D in every video game, having almost every core class and feat/ability/skill/spell. Hordes of the Underdark is the best thing BioWare has ever produced in my opinion.

Still The Best Co-Op CRPG Ever Made

There are a lot of misleading reviews here, so I want to throw in my 2 cents. NWN is the best CRPG ever made for multiplayer coop play. That hasn't changed. Has Beamdog cheese-bagged consumers by locking the diamond edition? Yes. But that doesn't change the quality of the game. Has Beamdog enhanced the game? No. Not really, but that doesn't change the quality of the game either. Is NWN still worth $20? That's a pretty subjective question, but I paid it (back before I had money to spend on this kind of thing). While there are plenty of valid reasons to criticize Beamdog, they can be credited with keeping this game alive. They haven't contributed much to "enhancing" the game, and they certainly could have. The original campaign has ALWAYS needed a prelude chapter... But , no. It's the same game. Same outdated graphics. Same boring, cliched, voice sets. What Beamdog HAS done is fixed broken game functions, and they continue to support the game. As far as I'm concerned that's a service to cRPG fans everywhere. Neverwinter nights was, and is likely to remain for the foreseeable future, the best online co-op RPG experience in gaming. The included module construction toolset and DM client puts this system in a league of it's own. It is fully backwards compatible with old fan content and mods, and while the game itself is, as mentioned, basically unchanged they have added some minor, but useful, functionality to the toolset. I have been a DM since 1980 and I just bought copies of this game for my entire gaming group as a fathers day treat for myself. I am looking forward to DMing a custom module for them, probably more than they are looking forward to playing it. They would, I am quite certain, prefer to continue our normal 5th Edition Fantasy Grounds campaign. That will change after session 1. It ALWAYS does. Buy this game. If it's not worth $20 to you wait for a sale and pay $5, but BUY IT.
