It's essentially just Diamond

This is a definite "buy on sale" game. Look, NWN is almost 20 years old, and honestly the enhanced version hasn't really differed that much from the diamond version. NWN in and of itself is a fantastic game, but it's definitely not worth $20. I know that Beamdog is in the process of adding further enhancements, so maybe a year from now it will truly be "enhanced", but right now it's just a cash grab of a classic game.

An Almost Necessary Upgrade

Among Beamdog's "Enhanced" versions of classic cRPGs, this one should be the most uncontroversial and praised. Perhaps there were issues with earlier versions, but in 2022 it was a straight upgrade for the resolution and modern lighting updates. However, one major issue I did have is that there is no in-game vsync option, and this led to my computer running at full throttle until I noticed a smell like something burning while the game was running. This was fixed by simply enabling vsync for the game in my Nvidia control panel. The in-game frame-limit option did not work the same, and made the game stutter like crazy. The number of added options and mod possibilities is wonderful, and the UI scaling is a lifesaver. I played Diamond Edition for a while, and the UI was really getting to me even after I tried a mod that simply doubled its resolution. This version also adds a much nicer menu for selecting which module to play, as well as some curated community modules (forget the original campaign, play the Aielund Saga) with automatic handling of their extra resource downloads. Likewise with multiplayer servers.

Meh

Well, I was excited about this game because I really liked the other enhanced editions made by this company. But I really can't get into this game. I hate the camera controls. Combat is boring to me. I'm just sitting here waiting for my character to have it's turn. The UI over all is just a pain to use. Maybe if I had played this when I originally came out I could have a bit of nostalgia for it. But no. I didn't play other games enhanced by this company way back when, but I still like them. Just doesn't do it for me.

After 60 hours on this version

Hello, I played this game when it was released and finished it several times in its original version but on EE there's a bug with camera rotate and never stop on Osx to resolve it you have go UI menu and change setting. I appreciated many modules from bioware / beamdog includes and community modules. I'd like a Neverwinter Night 3. To play multiplayer you have to use key available on your GOG account. Best regard

Major "downgrade" for NWN

Installing the original NWN on this computer after I upgraded it to Windows 10 will be a huge challenge. I chose to buy and install the Enhanced Edition from GOG. It took a long time to make it start with a more reasonable delay (half a minute instead of several minutes) and I am deeply disappointed with the EE. You can't expect everything to be perfect, but game-breaking issues that appear repeatedly and complete lack of support is unacceptable. Some modules are at least playable, but you expect more from an "Enhanced Edition" than some minor improvements (possibly major ones in the multiplayer part, which I don't use) over the original game and then some game-breaking bugs that make many modules and at least one of the standard campaigns (SOU) unplayable. Some reviewers praise the options offered to module makers. What's the point of creating a better module, if the module is broken at the player's end? Who are you making the modules for? Players or yourself? And sadly, that is the case for NWN EE - for example, you can enjoy the first parts of Swordflight - only be be merged with a chest at the start of part 3! No way to escape or proceed. You can reload and do it again with the same result, but your game is effectively over. NWN EE *breaks* Neverwinter Nights, it doesn't "enhance" it. Deeply misleading title and price - I can certainly understand people using words like "scam". I'd love to see a working version of NWN on GOG. This, however, is a disaster. The original game has effectively been ruined and is unlikely to be fixed. Beamdog ignores reports about these serious problems and they aren't fixed. They keep selling this broken product, without warning potential buyers about the issues and lack of support. Be prepared for a major disappointment if you decide to invest in this. It will only work until you run into one of these EE-generated problems that force you to start a new module and hope that, by some miracle, EE doesn't ruin that.
