Welcome back to Neverwinter!

Bards sing tales of heroes in ages past, but they rarely mention those that are yet to become heroes. One such hero is a farmer in the small village of West Harbor. Raised by the elven ranger, Daeghun, as his own child, our hero will embark on a grandiose quest against the King of Shadows. Neverwinter Nights 2 is the tale of his deeds. His adventures continue in Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer. Our protagonist discovers that an ominous spell has fallen on him. A curse of perpetual hunger--one which can only be quelled by consuming the souls of spirits. In order to remove the curse, he has to travel to the Shadow Realm, which harbors dark secrets and tormented souls.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir gives as a breather from grand quests of destiny and epic ordeals. You simply assemble a group of four adventurers (either by carefully picking out each of their statistics and skills or by randomly re-rolling your characters until you find the ones that suit you) and go where the wind takes you. Just make sure to get a good look at the map as you will need it to explore the wide open region of Samarach and the Sword Coast. Then, yet another adventure: in an ancient and forgotten tomb you found an unusual mask. It made you quite powerful but changed your life into a living nightmare. Strange, terrifying visions torment your psyche. Every time you try to get rid of the accursed mask, it secretly makes its way back to you. There's just one solution: set sail for Westgate and discover the secret of the Night Masks in Neverwinter Nights 2: Mysteries of Westgate.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Complete is an epic RPG set in the fantasy world of the Forgotten Realms, one of the most popular campaign settings of Dungeons & Dragons. Use all the wicked spells, feats, and prestige classes from the D&D 3.5 rules. Create your characters any way you wish, choosing from a wide variety of races and subraces, such as Tiefling and Aasimar. As if the pre-made campaigns weren't enough, you can take the reins and use the powerful Obsidian Neverwinter Nights 2 Toolset to make your own adventures and share them with friends!

  • Neverwinter Nights 2: Complete includes the original game, and three expansions: Mask of the Betrayer, Storm of Zehir, and Mysteries of Westgate.
  • Create and host your own solo and multiplayer D&D adventures using the improved Neverwinter Nights 2 Toolset.
  • Rediscover many familiar locations and reunite with your companions from the Neverwinter Nights series.
  • More than 100 hours of immersive adventure across four campaigns, all rendered in breathtaking detail.

Hardest fight was against the bugs...

Sadly I can't give more than 2/5 for a great narrative experience, because of the technical issues of this game and those terrible bugs that can overcome you on every corner. Took me days to make ih through some bugged missions with lots of researching how to deal with it. And so many others had the same bugs...really heavy ones. Also some of the opponents are ridicilously overpowered. I've lost all motivation to level up my chars by myself, cause it made not longer any sense with those overpowered enemies. And I made most parts of the game on hard or normal before it came to that...only cheats got me through. I hate playing with cheats, but it was the only way to experience the end of this great story. Sad thing...after all I guess I need a year to pass by before I can play the add-ons... after so much frustration!

Surprisingly fun

I am over 50 hours in, and have had no issues with bugs, quest based or otherwise. True, the GUI is odd, but you can figure this out in 5 minutes if you want to, so that really isnt a concern. The gameplay is fun, and there is a lot to do. Enjoy.

I tried so hard to like this more...

I played this through to the end (the original NWN2). The characters are interesting, voice acting good, plotting fair, typical D&D and cool for that. Music well done as well. Inventory mgmt typical for the time. I had a few bugs, one that wouldn't let me leave a location forcing a quite old save (worked the second time thru lost about 2 hours). I think the game broke down near the end. The entire keep building "mini-game" thing near the end felt contrived and out of place and frankly wasn't that interesting. The ultimate build-up to the final battle was...fair...I've played far better...but this game truly has the ALL TIME WORST ENDING OF ANY RPG EVER. I'm 35. I've been playing PC RPGs/NES/Sega Master System (Phantasy Star 1 shoutout)/SNES/etc etc since the 80s -- Ultima V, Wizardry 5 on thru the SSI games and then the "old"/new classics of BG1+2/IWD/etc... This game takes the cake. Go ahead. Google NWN2 ending disappointment. They flaked at the end. Wasn't cool. The opposite of how cool some games build up and then "pay off." After countless battles, hours, story investment, etc, it just literally peters out, trails off, and meh.... I wanted to like this more, but about 2/3 through (the first 2/3 really were rather fun and enjoyable just now AWEsome) -- the last 1/3 was like a terrible early aftertaste of bitterness....

With friends like these...

Know that this game should be called "Lemmings have more brains than your party 2" or "Try to get the camera in a decent position before dying 2" or "The art of selling things painfully slowly 2" or "Is that an automatic equipment re-shuffle or are you just happy to see me 2" or "Getting attached to a useful character who you probably wont be able to use most of the time 2" or "Experiment with the AI behaviour options and watch your party go double full retard 2" or "Enemies clearly made up of physical matter appearing out of nowhere 2" or "The art of getting four people and a pet through a simple door in a dungeon 2" or "Fantasic views of the inside of walls using three cameras 2". Know that the music gets the stars.

Finally

While I do own Neverwinter Nights and all it's expansions, I did never finish it due to lack of time. I did get through the first few parts though, and it was fun to play. Nothing much to say: it sounds and looks great, but seeing that I still play Baldur's Gate 1 (often even unmodded, in 640x480), you can imagine that I'm pleased very fast in that regard. Neverwinter Nights 2 and it's expansions were hard to get in 2009 (in The Netherlands), and the patches were even harder to find. There is no "full patch", like Neverwinter Nights 1. You need to download all the seperate third party patches from the IGN Vault, and use a third party program to actually install them, if you don't want to depend on the update servers forever. Therefore I've saved these patches, as I can see me playing this game in 2016, 10 years after release. (That is no strange thing to do for me.) And now, as I've done with every game that I've own(ed) on CD, I wil rebuy it on GOG, so I can give away my CD's and don't need to worry about patches, DRM, or No-CD Cracks. Just download, install, and play. Forever, as long as you have a computer that can run the game. As it should be. Thanks GOG. I'll download and archive this game for the time that I can actually get around to it, (re)play it, and finish it.
