Welcome back to Neverwinter!

Bards sing tales of heroes in ages past, but they rarely mention those that are yet to become heroes. One such hero is a farmer in the small village of West Harbor. Raised by the elven ranger, Daeghun, as his own child, our hero will embark on a grandiose quest against the King of Shadows. Neverwinter Nights 2 is the tale of his deeds. His adventures continue in Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer. Our protagonist discovers that an ominous spell has fallen on him. A curse of perpetual hunger--one which can only be quelled by consuming the souls of spirits. In order to remove the curse, he has to travel to the Shadow Realm, which harbors dark secrets and tormented souls.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir gives as a breather from grand quests of destiny and epic ordeals. You simply assemble a group of four adventurers (either by carefully picking out each of their statistics and skills or by randomly re-rolling your characters until you find the ones that suit you) and go where the wind takes you. Just make sure to get a good look at the map as you will need it to explore the wide open region of Samarach and the Sword Coast. Then, yet another adventure: in an ancient and forgotten tomb you found an unusual mask. It made you quite powerful but changed your life into a living nightmare. Strange, terrifying visions torment your psyche. Every time you try to get rid of the accursed mask, it secretly makes its way back to you. There's just one solution: set sail for Westgate and discover the secret of the Night Masks in Neverwinter Nights 2: Mysteries of Westgate.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Complete is an epic RPG set in the fantasy world of the Forgotten Realms, one of the most popular campaign settings of Dungeons & Dragons. Use all the wicked spells, feats, and prestige classes from the D&D 3.5 rules. Create your characters any way you wish, choosing from a wide variety of races and subraces, such as Tiefling and Aasimar. As if the pre-made campaigns weren't enough, you can take the reins and use the powerful Obsidian Neverwinter Nights 2 Toolset to make your own adventures and share them with friends!

  • Neverwinter Nights 2: Complete includes the original game, and three expansions: Mask of the Betrayer, Storm of Zehir, and Mysteries of Westgate.
  • Create and host your own solo and multiplayer D&D adventures using the improved Neverwinter Nights 2 Toolset.
  • Rediscover many familiar locations and reunite with your companions from the Neverwinter Nights series.
  • More than 100 hours of immersive adventure across four campaigns, all rendered in breathtaking detail.

One of the best RPG deals in existence

Neverwinter Nights 2 has a rough reputation. Launched in 2006, the game was full of bugs and glitches. However, the quality of Obsidian's sequel to Bioware's original was still obvious. The various expansion packs, additions, and patches only help make this game that much more attractive. With the amount of user generated content available, Neverwinter Nights 2 is only second to the original Neverwinter Nights in value for your money. If you want a great package with good gameplay that will last you for years, this is a good game to purchase. Just be cautious that this game still has some bugs after all this time. They don't ruin the game, but they are there. Don't let that stop you from buying this and enjoying some of the best PC focused RPG goodness of the last decade.

Endless RPG Fun

This is one of the best DnD Games ever made. Of course the story cannot compare to Baldurs Gate. But what makes this game special is the engine. Good graphics and infinite possibilities. There are so many and so different mods for this game, you will never run out of good ones. The reach from good RPG stories over trading cards games to puzzle games like a quite accurate remake of the original Zork. The first addon, Mask of the Betrayer has a great story. The other original stories are good but not great. Here a short list of mods which I can recommend: Planescape (RPG) Harp & Chrysanthemum (RPG) Dark Waters & Dark Waters 2, Pirate Cards Trading Card Game included (RPG) Icewind Dale Remake (RPG) ZORK – Rediscovering the Great Underground Empire (Puzzle) Asylum: A Bet, A Corpse (drives you crazy)

Finally on GOG.

Having Mysteries of Westgate included is an awesome addition. I thought MoW had disappeared from this reality alltogether. A bargain at any price, what with 100 hours of gameplay and 10 000 hours worth of extra fan made modules at NWN Vault.

A mixed bag with far more good than bad

For one thing, you first have to know that this game is really buggy. I mean REALLY buggy. Though it is, as stated in the description, a near-perfect adaptation of the D&D 3.5 rules. As for the campaigns themselves, well... The original campaign is okay. It's incredibly cliche, but from the way the plot presents itself, it's clear that they knew they were writing a cliche storm and they decided to have fun with it. The likable characters and sometimes very witty dialogue make this one worth it, though. Actually, Neeshka alone is worth playing this for. Mask of the Betrayer is, put simply, amazing. Every problem one may have had with the original campaign is addressed here. We have a very dark, and epic plot here, with some of the best characters from the original campaign (Hi there, Neeshka!) returning. Storm of Zehir is also great, but for different reasons. Where Mask of the Betrayer was dark and serious, Storm of Zehir goes sprinting off in the opposite direction. And it is glorious. A silly, yet at the same time brilliant, piece of work here that's impossible not to love. I haven't played Mysteries of Westgate, but more content is always a good thing, right? So to put it simply, if you can look past the bugs, you have a decent main plot, a really dark and epic sequel story, and a lighthearted romp side-story. Altogether, this is a great package and well worth your time and money.

A diamond in the rough

I own the Platinum edition of this game, and I'd be willing to buy it again here for the extras and for the Mysteries of Westgate campaign. Four campaigns (hundreds of hours of content), hundreds more downloadable adventure modules (see Neverwinter Nexus and Neverwinter Vault), multiplayer and DM-led game support, persistent online worlds, and a toolset and wealth of custom content to create your own adventures. If you liked Dragon Age: Origins or Baldur's Gate, definitely try this game. Despite some finicky camera and movement controls (some of which is alleviated by its extensive customisability and user-made fixes, such as Skywing's Client Extension), this is one of the best modern RPGs around. The major things that differentiate this game from its predecessor, Neverwinter Nights 1 (aside from the graphics), are the party system and dialogue system. You get a fully controllable party here, as you have in DA:O and the Infinity Engine games, while in NWN1 you can only directly control the main character. The second expansion added the ability to choose any of your party members as the speaker in a conversation, so that your main character doesn't have to be the one with all the social skills. (Mods exist to apply this functionality to the previous campaigns as well.) This is my most often-played game, and I bought it two years ago. I can't recommend it enough. If you love those other games I mentioned, you should also love this one.
