Welcome back to Neverwinter!

Bards sing tales of heroes in ages past, but they rarely mention those that are yet to become heroes. One such hero is a farmer in the small village of West Harbor. Raised by the elven ranger, Daeghun, as his own child, our hero will embark on a grandiose quest against the King of Shadows. Neverwinter Nights 2 is the tale of his deeds. His adventures continue in Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer. Our protagonist discovers that an ominous spell has fallen on him. A curse of perpetual hunger--one which can only be quelled by consuming the souls of spirits. In order to remove the curse, he has to travel to the Shadow Realm, which harbors dark secrets and tormented souls.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir gives as a breather from grand quests of destiny and epic ordeals. You simply assemble a group of four adventurers (either by carefully picking out each of their statistics and skills or by randomly re-rolling your characters until you find the ones that suit you) and go where the wind takes you. Just make sure to get a good look at the map as you will need it to explore the wide open region of Samarach and the Sword Coast. Then, yet another adventure: in an ancient and forgotten tomb you found an unusual mask. It made you quite powerful but changed your life into a living nightmare. Strange, terrifying visions torment your psyche. Every time you try to get rid of the accursed mask, it secretly makes its way back to you. There's just one solution: set sail for Westgate and discover the secret of the Night Masks in Neverwinter Nights 2: Mysteries of Westgate.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Complete is an epic RPG set in the fantasy world of the Forgotten Realms, one of the most popular campaign settings of Dungeons & Dragons. Use all the wicked spells, feats, and prestige classes from the D&D 3.5 rules. Create your characters any way you wish, choosing from a wide variety of races and subraces, such as Tiefling and Aasimar. As if the pre-made campaigns weren't enough, you can take the reins and use the powerful Obsidian Neverwinter Nights 2 Toolset to make your own adventures and share them with friends!

  • Neverwinter Nights 2: Complete includes the original game, and three expansions: Mask of the Betrayer, Storm of Zehir, and Mysteries of Westgate.
  • Create and host your own solo and multiplayer D&D adventures using the improved Neverwinter Nights 2 Toolset.
  • Rediscover many familiar locations and reunite with your companions from the Neverwinter Nights series.
  • More than 100 hours of immersive adventure across four campaigns, all rendered in breathtaking detail.

Solid game... no issues

NWN2 with MoW included is a steal at the GoG price. People saying this game is rife with bugs obviously haven't played it since say 2008 or so. 99% of what was buggy upon release has been fixed, either in subsequent patches or via the work of talented community members. A solid game for a great price.

Great when you fix the 2 bugs

You first have to accept that the camera is crappy as all get out! However, after a short time you will get used to always rotating the camera as you play. I can not for the life of me remember any other game, especially NWN 1, having this kind of crappy camera angles and views. The gameworld and interiors ALWAYS get in the way of your view no matter how you control your party. But again, after a short time you will get used to always rotating the camera to a better view. There is also a slowdown bug that can happen to some people. It started for me after I had played about 25hrs and didnt show up until I loaded my game when I sat down to play, NOT while I was already in the game. There is a simple fix. You download a small file that is actually a JADE EMPIRE slowdown fix, and it corrects the stuttering/lagging bug seeing as the 2 games share the same engine. Worked great for me and havent had a problem since. When you first start the game there is a crash when you try to select screen size and details. IIRC you just go into WINDOW MODE, set what you want, then go back to normal mode after you accept your changes. I only had to do this once. Reviews like this and topics in the games forum have all the answers if you have a problem. Dont let the 2 easy to fix bugs stop you from buying this fantastic CRPG. As for the camera, yeah, it is ridiculous how the camera is implemented considering there have been MANY 3d crpg's before this that got the camera work done better......even NWN 1 was better. And it's not like the Dev's tried something new for camera angles but failed. They just dropped the ball on this part of the game.

The Second best RPG ever made

In my opinion, NWN beats any RPG ever made since. I can't necessarily justify that, but I've put so many hours into that game, that just seems to keep pulling me back in to spend hours and hours marvelling at the gameplay that is still much much better than 99% of what they make today. NWN2 is better and worse than NWN1. you have a much greater degree of character customization, also for your companions. You will not find a graphically better, and more "true" version of the D&D 3.5 system on a PC. why then only 4 stars? as everyone else mentions: The Bugs. Enough to sometimes make you want to flip over your table, and not play again for an hour. Even so: This game is pinnacle of True RPG's. If you enjoy those kinds of games, get this one. NOW. p.s. The Mods are epic. I personally recommend Kaedrins Mod, which packs an incredible amount of D&D 3.5 prestige classes (official ones i might add)

Great RPG That May Test Your Patience!

GOG should be commended for not only releasing this game, but also including the elusive Mysteries of Westgate (MOW) module by Ossian Studies. I'm not aware of anywhere else that sells NWN2 with MOW. For this reason, the GOG release should be preferred (not to mention the included extras such as the soundtracks). NWN2's original campaign is standard fantasy fare, but still an enjoyable return to the Sword Coast: the return to a proper party RPG (contra NWN1) is welcome! Mask of the Betrayer is rightly hailed as a masterpiece, improving in every (reasonable) respect upon, & providing a good conclusion to, the OC. Storm of Zehir has a mixed reception, but I personally like how different it is from the OC, MOBT & MOW (which have a fairly serious tone) both in atmosphere & its play-style. Kudos should be given for the expansions being set in Forgotten Realms locales far from the Sword Coast. Add the many excellent player-made modules on top of this available at the neverwintervault & that's a hell of a lot of (mostly high-quality) content/play-time for your buck! (There are full remakes of BG1 and IWD1 available! Updates on old classics) That said, the game isn't perfect. NWN2 is still notably buggy (NWN2 doesn't quite have the bug-fixing community of, say, the elder scrolls rpgs), the game engine is absurdly taxing given the graphics not being especially outstanding & the camera is annoying at best. The game is certainly enjoyable and entertaining (for the most part, battles can thrill tactically, areas are well-designed & the plots and companions are well-written and fleshed out ), but nothing reaches the heights of, say, the Infinity Engine masterpieces (with the exception of MOTB). I have many fond memories (as well as a few frustrating ones!) of NWN2, its expansions, & the player-made modules, & in conclusion I would recommend the game to all RPG-lovers (especially D&D & Forgotten Realms fans) who possess the virtue of patience!

DRM?

So every time I attempt to install this, the first thing it does is attempt to access a website with "Digital Certification" in its name and won't open unless I allow internet access to the site. Isn't GOG supposed to be DRM-free?
