Welcome back to Neverwinter!

Bards sing tales of heroes in ages past, but they rarely mention those that are yet to become heroes. One such hero is a farmer in the small village of West Harbor. Raised by the elven ranger, Daeghun, as his own child, our hero will embark on a grandiose quest against the King of Shadows. Neverwinter Nights 2 is the tale of his deeds. His adventures continue in Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer. Our protagonist discovers that an ominous spell has fallen on him. A curse of perpetual hunger--one which can only be quelled by consuming the souls of spirits. In order to remove the curse, he has to travel to the Shadow Realm, which harbors dark secrets and tormented souls.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir gives as a breather from grand quests of destiny and epic ordeals. You simply assemble a group of four adventurers (either by carefully picking out each of their statistics and skills or by randomly re-rolling your characters until you find the ones that suit you) and go where the wind takes you. Just make sure to get a good look at the map as you will need it to explore the wide open region of Samarach and the Sword Coast. Then, yet another adventure: in an ancient and forgotten tomb you found an unusual mask. It made you quite powerful but changed your life into a living nightmare. Strange, terrifying visions torment your psyche. Every time you try to get rid of the accursed mask, it secretly makes its way back to you. There's just one solution: set sail for Westgate and discover the secret of the Night Masks in Neverwinter Nights 2: Mysteries of Westgate.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Complete is an epic RPG set in the fantasy world of the Forgotten Realms, one of the most popular campaign settings of Dungeons & Dragons. Use all the wicked spells, feats, and prestige classes from the D&D 3.5 rules. Create your characters any way you wish, choosing from a wide variety of races and subraces, such as Tiefling and Aasimar. As if the pre-made campaigns weren't enough, you can take the reins and use the powerful Obsidian Neverwinter Nights 2 Toolset to make your own adventures and share them with friends!

  • Neverwinter Nights 2: Complete includes the original game, and three expansions: Mask of the Betrayer, Storm of Zehir, and Mysteries of Westgate.
  • Create and host your own solo and multiplayer D&D adventures using the improved Neverwinter Nights 2 Toolset.
  • Rediscover many familiar locations and reunite with your companions from the Neverwinter Nights series.
  • More than 100 hours of immersive adventure across four campaigns, all rendered in breathtaking detail.

Fantastic, but not perfect

I do have fond memories of this game... I also have some frustrating ones. Ultimately, it's a decent game with a meaty, if somewhat clichéd storyline. The expansions certainly added to it, though for me at least I seem to be the odd one out in that I found the timed aspect of MotB detracted from the enjoyment. Graphically - It is looking dated now, but it's still more than playable. After all, you want story over graphics, this is why we still play the likes of the BG series, Torment etc. Character creation - Let's be honest, outside of story, this is the most important part of any RPG... And it's certainly D&D in terms of choices etc. AI - This is where it slips up a bit. I shit you not, I genuinely had a Githyanki cleric who kept dying on me. Every fight, she died. Didn't know how, didn't know when... So I checked the combat log. Hmm, she dies after casting something eh? Watched her in the next fight and was somewhat shocked to find her casting banishment... In the area she was stood in... So yes, my outsider cleric kept banishing herself mid-fight. Turning off her AI casting solved that though. Story - Cliché all around, but certainly enjoyable. Value - I've played the main game through twice since buying it on release and I'd say each play through (of the main release, not expansions) took about 60 hours. That, to me, indicates good value for sure. So in short, I would recommend this to anyone interested in RPG's. But don't go into it expecting perfection.

Neverwinter Nights 2

Player freedom is greatly reduced from the first Neverwinter Nights and Dungeons and Dragons roleplaying games in general. You can no longer attack at will and choose who can and can't join the protagonist. In some cases a character will be required to be in the party for the game to continue. The developers seemed more interested in making it like Knights of the Old Republic than a Dungeons and Dragons game. I did like the return to the ability to have a large party. However there was a skil, Leadership, that was said to increase the number of people the character could have in his party but I was not able to add more than I had.

Prepare for adventure!

Definitely a game you should check out! There's a wide mixture of classes and races to choose from; uses D&D 3.0/3.5 rules for combat! Sharper graphics than the original NWN game, and the toolset for NWN2 is insanely more powerful as well. So whether you want to play NWN or create content for NWN, this game will give you those fixes.

Fantastic game, horrible ending..

Not much can be said about this game, other then the fact that it is a fantastic game! ------------ The gameplay is fantastic and only noticed "One" single bug in the entire game. Which is really good for a game from that time! It is easy to get used to and the rules and gaming mechanism is just glorious! ---------- However..as great as the game is, the ending of the "Main Campaign" is just...well...disappointing, they go with the lamest and most overused ending in gaming/movie history (Wont spoil any) but as a hint, dont hope for too much..(The Campaign itself is fantastic however, great lore and story! Perfect for RP-Lovers!) ---------- I rate this game 5/5, the good parts of the game overall wights over my problem with the ending, the ending ruined basicly everything, however, it is the game play that is most important! And they really score with the gameplay! it is fantastic!

too easy

My reeviw is really a review of the campaign since I don't bother to play these games online anymore. Online are just hack and slash anyway. This one is too easy even on higher difficulty. I wish they hadn't done that, I don't know why they couldn't give it a harder mode. But I think parts of the campaign had enough RPG value and options, that I liked, that I gave it four stars. I'd have taken parts of this to remake the original campaign. It's certainly worth a single play. But beyond that, I don't feel that the class system has more RPG value in the campaign, and I'd actually go back to the original if I felt like playing different classes, where it has more impact because of fewer companions - expect for support classes. So, after having played half the game again a second time, and finding little replay value, I don't feel any need to buy the complete edition, or play the game again.
