A golden age adventure game with a space sim inside, and some of the best world-building I've seen. Plus, Michael Dorn! A fantastic science fiction game.
I have very fond memories of this game when it first release back in the mid-90s. A high quality classic point-n-click adventure FMV game. Highly recommended!
Took me a few years to finally sit down through it, but Mission Critical offered up the kind of big-brained, hard-sci-fi storytelling I had been sorely missing in my gaming landscape.
It's been decades. Use a walkthru and no one will hate you.
Linear narrative with light puzzles which never broke my brain. Interesting visual variety - not all of the game takes place on the ship (not even a lot of it).
Fun, smart stuff.
To be honest, I am not a big fan of point and click adventures. But this is a great point and click adventure for so many reasons. Even if you are not a fan of the genre, give it a try.
Great acting
Good sci-fi story. Not amazing, but better than most
Fun mini games
Clues are not too obtuse. Most things you need to do make sense.
Fairly linear.
Not a lot of pointless backtracking, and where there is backtracking it is on a small ship.
The click point targets are not impossible to find pixel size targets. It is pretty obvious what you should click on.
Not too long.
Story is cut into 3 -4 mini areas which keeps the story fresh.
Trying to fix the ship really gave me a sense of being on a ship.
Graphics are decent. Yes, they are state of the art VGA 🙂
Good FMV
