Even for the time, this game is a bad joke.
Invisible walls everywhere, you take one step in the wrong direction or hestitate for a second to long and an artillery shell kills you out of nowhere, even if you are in full cover. In it's best moments you just keep shooting forever at mindlessly charging enemies. Other world war shooters have similar problems, but this one just takes the crap cake.
Don't waste neither time nor money on this. There are better alternatives everywhere.
The only thing I found majorly off-putting as a Christian was a certain character reinventing a story from scripture which paints a picture of God that doesn't align with the bible & then claiming to be above God. I do understand it was probably just a portrayal of a character like that...but it did annoy me like I would be annoyed listening to such a person in real life - so that one annoying cutscene removed a star from my rating.
Other than that it's pretty awesome. The rest of the game is great to me. Runs okay to well even on my specific modern device - not without some quirks here & there, but those aren't game ruining in my consideration. Story, gameplay & atmosphere are all still great, I feel they still hold up well - coming from someone who doesn't often play too many older games, so even those who may be more comfortable with modern games may still find a good experience here.
The game does follow a main character & paints his story. The other guys he goes through things with do even feel like unique personalities & interesting characters. I usually am drawn to games with a good story that draws you in & it feels rare to get a war FPS with a high focus on the story in current times, so I am personally enjoying this one.
If the puporse of the game was to teach people that war is bad, then it made an astonishing job. What the hell was going on with the devs thinking THIS would be actually fun?
- Janky controls
- Braindead AI
- Horrible tutorial I wish you could skip
- Horrible Pearl Harbor mission
- Horrible missions after that
In general it takes FOREVER until you can actually play the damn game and it's not even fun, just frustrating.
