Medal of Honor™: Pacific Assault

This might very well be the only time I've regretted spending $3 on a game. I originally thought this game was Medal of Honor: Rising Sun which I have fond memories of when I played it on the PS2. This is obviously not Rising Sun and had I'd known that I wouldn't have bought it, but here we are. Anyway, lets start with the good. It has good graphics (for 2005), the voice acting is good enough, and it runs pretty well. Now for the bad. There aren't many bugs, but the ones that are there sure are noticeable. The enemy AI would just randomly break and stop working. I actually had one guy stop in front of me and sit down. Also, there is this bug where your FOV will randomly shrink until you aim again. Next, the story is a mess. The characters fall into the basic stereotypes such as: the gruff sergeant, the nerdy medic, the redneck who can shoot, and you, the normal everyday American. The developers for some reason decided to throw out the history books and retell iconic battles in their own way. Do you remember reading about how the Makin Island raid was pulled off by like 5 guys? Nope, me neither. So, the game has a generic (mostly made-up) story and some pretty annoying bugs, but the gameplay is good right? No, this game has somehow managed to make some of the most recognizable firearms in history boring. The sounds are generic, many of the guns share the same basic animations, and all of them feel under powered. Also, I really hope you like turret sections because this game is absolutely full of them. You can also issue orders to your squad, and the game reminds you every 30 seconds with a large icon telling you exactly what order you should be giving. Overall, the game is generic and bland at the best of times. Seriously, there are better MOH games that came before and after this game. Don't waste your time or money.

Just get MoH Allied Assault only. If they ever bring Airborne to GOG, I would also recommend buying that over Pacific Assault.

This is my first "medal of honor" game, among other second world war games this is a game that is quite complex in terms of the story, the results of strengthening the character of Tommy and his friends are very good. With graphics and structuring in the game that is also extraordinary in his day. Unfortunately the story of the second world war brought separately by "EA" in this "Medal of honor". I am very happy with the previous "EA". There are some disadvantages too, the control design must make you adapt again, some places in one chapter must make you focus on playing, sometimes firing bugs do not penetrate the leaves but AI can, and yes there is no more polite word than "AI Japan its to smart "

This game turned out to be a chore to complete. The jungle missions are worst of all due to limited visibility, often times you only see incoming shots but can only guess from where since the foliage blocks your view. Scripted banzai attack is interesting maybe the first few times but then it's just annoying as charging soldiers are stabbing you while you try to reload your gun. Objectives are sometimes unclear so you run around the map trying to find where to go next. Overall it had some bright moments like the theatric mission in Pearl Harbor but afterwards it's just boring scripted action, might have had the oooh effect back in the days but not today.

If you like a game where you have to man the machine gun and shoot gobs of planes down before they kill you all the while your boat is on rails, then this is the game for you. Not fun at all.
