The stuff dreams are made of

Kings Quest 7: Five Stars! Kings Quest 8: No Take a look at the screenshots and you'll notice two sets. One involves a dark murky atmosphere similar to that of QUAKE or Heretic, the other sports gorgeous lucid backgrounds and hand-painted frames. Kings Quest 7 takes you on a magical journey you will never forget, quite literally, some of the scenes, music, sounds, and lovely voices are what make this game so beautiful. They should have stopped Kings Quest here. Kings Quest 8, just no. This is Quakes Quest, not Kings Quest, do not touch.

King's Quest VII Alone Is Worth $10

Let's get King's Quest VIII out of the way first thing. It is generic, and coming after King's Quest VI and VII that is absolutely unforgivable. Everything is just okay. The graphics aren't the worst, the world design isn't the worst, the story isn't the worst. Nor is it among the best. It falls squarely somewhere in the middle. To understand why this is such a disappointment, we need look no further than King's Quest VII. Imaginative. Beautifully designed. Colorful. Funny. Fun. Amazing. King's Quest VII brought you the story of a rebellious girl and her mother, trapped in strange new worlds as they try to find each other and get back home. This game is the reason why point-and-click adventures were such a good time back in their day. If you have $10 to spare, want a game that, while will not stand up to the graphics of today's AAA titles, is still fun, long enough that you still feel like you're getting your moneys worth, and features strong female protagonists, this game is well worth your time, and very good value for money.

Loved KQ7, hated KQ8.

KQ7 was my first CD game And I truely loved it. Two memorable female charecters, a princess turned into a Troll and buetiful Walt Disney like sceneries. I thought it was one of the best I played. On the other hand, KQ8 was ugly, I forgot the story entirely, and my biggest disapoinment was the action parts. I was dismayed at the (then) new tendency to introduce fight in an advanture game, and I thought I could do without that game. I would like to have KQ7 again, but I will not be willing to pay again for KQ8. 5 point to KQ7, 1 points (just) for KQ8. so the pacage is 3.

Worth every nickel.

I'm a little tired of reading reviews dissing King's Quest 8. I'll admit, the control scheme could be a lot better, but I've played games that are worse; you may have heard of them: Resident Evil 1-3, Silent Hill 1, Grand Theft Auto 1 and so on. Considering that KQ 8 was released in 1998, I'd say it's right on par with those other games control-wise. Sure, there are parts that are a pain because they require you to navigate tight spaces or jump over obstacles that kill you, but so do most survival horror games from that period. And that's what KQ 8 is: a survival horror game, with health potions, merchants, and everything else we love about Resident Evil. Other reviewers are correct in their statements that it isn't a King's Quest game like the first 7. There are no fairy tale references and no comedy, which distinguished it's predecessors, especially KQ 7, which is a playable Disney movie. The typical point and click Sierra adventure game was worn out by 1998. Give them a break.

These games are EPIC!

First let me tackle KQ7: The princeless Bride. the poor poor Royal family of daventry...why wont wizards, and other horrible plagues leave them alone? anyway This game is about Rosella; A young Princess who is Looking for her prince charming...Now where are you going sit back down! I know that its Cliche! bear with me here Rosella Is looking for a prince, and she sees A magical kingdom inside a pond somewhere...they are never too clear as to where. anyway Rosella's mother shows up and tells her that she has to become a responsible ruler to her people and blah blah blah. and quicker than you can say snow white Rosella gets into trouble. She falls into the pond and her mother follows her trying to find her. And from there you go through 7 chapters of mind bending hilarity. you enter a universe that almost resembles Toon Town in its execution. especially the town of fallderall. anyway there are seven chapters. each chapter you alternate playing as Rosella herself and as her mother. Hi jinks ensue, Some evil witch wants to rule the land, Rosella unites with her prince charming the mother and daughter find eachother and the Princess is happily married and they all live happily ever after...OR DO THEY?! play the game and find out....And now the second game. Mask of eternity. This game was totally different than all the other kings quest games. except for the fact that it still had the adventure puzzle solving element. you play as Prince charming and you are on a quest to save the land of Davenport...uh i mean Daventry and with your trusty sword by your side, and your hammer, and your rope and your grappling hook and your hundreds of potions and all your gold coins and your keys and rocks and miscellaneous crapola, you set out to get the pieces of the Deus Ex machina back together to restore peace to the entire land. oh, and there's also Experience points and a hackneyed RPG system in it too. This Game is AWESOME! how could you lose?! I honestly don' think either of these games are that bad. The stories are very Corny yes, but that's what is great about them. its the corny Storytelling that kept making me come back again and again to play these games. and if you like This sort of thing you will enjoy it too...when playing just be open minded and have a sense of humor and you will love any kings quest game you play.
