King's Quest 7+8

kq7 works well on windows 7 and 8, however kq8 is worthless on both.

King's Quest VIII does not work. It gets to the loading screen and crashes.

I played up to KQ6 as a kid, and recently replayed them because I loved them all so much. I downloaded this to finally complete the series. Not sure I can though, since the overly cartoonish KQ7 makes me cringe the entire time. Seriously, if I wanted to watch a Disney ripoff cartoon, I would go search for one on Netflix, not buy this!! I don't understand how anyone can call this a "great game" unless they were playing it with/for their 2-year-old. The wand that lights up anytime you pass over an object of importance takes all of the challenge away from the puzzles and searching/adventure in general. The ridiculously slow movement and inability to change the speed makes me want to throw my computer across the room. The fact that the menus are all different and nothing like the above the screen menu in V and VI is strange and frustrating. Don't bother!

I wish I could add something about either of these games...but so far..it has been nothing but a bad experience for me...I have played all 6 of the King's Quest games and when I seen that it CLAIMED to be compatible with Windows 7 I was very excited and couldn't wait to play..however..it has been days and after COUNTLESS times of downloading and re-downloading..I finally got the process on it's way..or so I thought..only for it to say the source file was corrupted...VERY disappointed and beyond aggravated at this point..

Both games as far as I've got so far, don't run properly on Win7. KQ7 - Compatibility - Has terrible graphics and you can't even make out what the hell you're even looking at. Haven't found a way to run on Win7 unless you like using dosbox and having a tiny ass screen to look at. Game - Game is their second fav in my book. Fun story and pretty clean graphics for being 2D. KQ8 - Compatibility - Runs like shit and crashes like crazy on Win7. Game - My favorite game out of all of the KQ games. People who complain about the graphics on this game also forget when this game came out and the current technology was at.
