Don't know if this is the proper place to add this. But... the special price on Steam is for owners of the original KoA game. Otherwise the price is identical here. Just my 2 cents.
The game still holds true value to me. It's like Elder Scrolls meets Fable style for me. An mmo-like yet dungeon crawler. A character building game. The story is there while mediocre at times. Wonderful overall. The smooth transition from dropping off a platform. The sleek execute kills. I love it.
I haven't been able to drop this remaster. I've personally had a smooth experience with this game.
On that note, its more of a shader/texture update. Least we have an upcoming expansion on the way though!
If you are a lefty, and play using arrow keys for forward, back, and strafe right and left, you might give this a hard pass. I'm not sure if it's an original design error, or a THQ\Nordic issue, but if you try to use the keyboard arrow keys for direction control, the game stubbornly sets camera look keys to the arrow keys, and won't allow setting them to anything different. This is the same problem I found with Rune 2. I was able to fix it with ini changes. I have not found a way with KOA RR. This is basically the kiss of death for me. I pretty much have to use the arrow keys for direction control, as using WASD is so awkward, it is simply not possible. Also impossible to play when you try to go any direction and the camera darts in the pointed direction. I have contacted support, but may never receive an answer. If there was any indication this keymapping issue exists, I'd have never purchased it. May have to seek a refund.
Some people here describe problems with the mouse behaviour on Windows. I had this on the original game on Steam too. The reason was another program (in my case the task switcher replacement Vista Switcher) wich had a configuration option to intercept the right mouse button for task switching. After disabling this option the mouse did work well again. This behaviour occured in some other games too (e.g. Dragon Age: Origins).
I can not tell so much about the game itself as I stopped playing with the bug and later did not find the time to play it again. But for the beginning I got a good impression.
