Explore a sprawling game world hailed as having "more content than any single-player game deserves!"
Enjoy countless side quests rich in political intrigue, romance, sinister magic, and even whimsy - all central to the primary mission.
The gameplay is nice the world is very big and it is so much to do!
One streamer on twitch got to repair his save from the developers but the bug itself in one of the dlc still exists is very hard to understand for known bug.
Personally I could not end a quest in a side mission because I could not get an item from a NPC. The Item was on my map but could not take it!
And very so often the game just crashes but this not so bad because of autosaves and the load times are very nice on a PC with a SSD!
So as I wrote in the title I very much like and play this game to the end and more but the bugs and there are so many in an 8 year old game for 40 bucks is awful!
It is and it was a great game - although there was not sold many copys.
Now, the remastered edition - the improvements could have been better - so the only real reason to buy it is the new DLC which will be released next year.
But, although the improvements are rare, this game is realy great.
You know, it is really bad game design to not let a player now if they failed a quest. A great example of this is "Gossamer End." Kind of agrivating, and on top of that. Your mission menu acts like the quest is still active. Fix this please, I've paid top coin for Kingdom of Amalur, probably like 4 times. I have a ps3 copy, steam copy, and gog remaster copy. There is no reason for the gog remaster copy, to still have these bugs and nearly at full price.
I had this game since 2012 and it is one of my favorites.
Back then was a great example of what a good RPG game have to be : extremely rich lore, beautiful graphics (for its time), innovative combat system (the "Fate attacks" is an awesome feature), the skill tree and the skill advancement were brilliant, there is a lot to loot, equip, buy, sell, forge and craft (potion recipes, crystal shard/gem making, equipment crafting) and a lot of bad guys/monsters to kill using magic / melee / ranged / stealth moves (i prefer the stealth attacks as they are the most eye-candy of all)
I long waited for a sequel - or at least a prequel, but to no avail...
Until i learned that THQ will remaster the game and give us a new dlc and if the sales were good then they are going to make a sequel.
I waited until the sales season and bought the "Fate edition".
The most prominent improvement is graphics improvements: they are very good, now the graphics are more "solid", "vivid" and "real" as real can be for a 2012 game.
I experienced an issue with constant crashes but that was due the oc of my memory modules.
The problem was solved with the help of the GOG support and I thank them for that.
So if you have an APU + oc memory and experience constant crashes try to turn off the memory oc and the problem will most likely vanish, letting you enjoy this fine game.
TL:DR
4 stars for the overall "feel" of the game.
-1 star for the high price. Wait for a sales season.
If you already have the game, buy it during the sales season. and replay it. It is THAT good.
Of you don't have the game, shame on you. Wait for a sales season, buy it and play it to the end, doing all the subquests. Rinse and repeat.
