Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning

It's a remaster, so if you try to compare original game and this one on same PC, it's obvious that original game will run with a lot higher fps because it contains lower quality models and textures so it renders less details with same graphic settings and resolution. Comparing max details on relevant hardware it runs approximately the same (Reckoning on GTX 960 in HD has ~52fps, Re-reckoning on GTX 1080 in 2K has ~58fps). The original game was known for having lots of bugs, remaster have fixed some of them, but most of the rarer bugs are still there. The only help remains the same: save a lot, create new save file after each finished task and solve one task at the time (i.e. pick a task in journal, solve the problem, get reward; do not leave half-solved tasks opened for later). That way you will be able to return to unbugged state if something wrong happens in your saved game or load state before quest started if you get stucked solving it. For example: In original game some quests could be blocked if you did not pickup a quest item (e.g. from dead body) before it disappeared. In remaster you can pickup quest items even when you have full inventory, so there is no danger that the item will disappear while you go to a merchant to sell your junk. In original game some quest items could get stuck in your inventory after quest is finished if you moved them into chest while the quest was active. In remaster you cannot put any quest items into chest, so this bug does not appear anymore (but for quest, where you must collect 10 books, you CAN put them into chest because this task takes whole game to finish). To review the gameplay: It's a classic AD&D RPG (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, etc.) with a great story, lots of side-quests and great combat system. Part of the story is the fact that at any time, you can "reset" your character and select different skills, abilities and bonuses so you are not stuck with the same character for the whole game.

Hi people, I have now more than 150hours into this game. And its pretty addicting, first tip... dont open the box when you are low level. Try to open it as 40 that the gear is also level up (at least some of it) Second join their discord, very friendly people who help you with problems and the devs are on to help you out there as well. Gameplay : Gameplay is what you expect in a more mmo-isch style game. Loads of side quest with a mainstory. It rewards the ones who do all the exploring with hidden doors and tresures and extra buffs. And there are a lot of sidequests. Iam not sure i have done em all, although it feels i did, but as soon you did the main quest/sidequest its back to grinding mobs and do the repeat quest. And at that time its getting a bit boring. But than again you are 150plus hours in. So well worth your money. Also if you have this game already, iam not sure you are getting something extra out it though. From other reviewers i seen online it was exactly the same with a little difference to the orginal, so dont count on a remake or something like that. Still bugs in this game some fun and some just crashes your game to desktop. So save often or at least before you do something importent :) To be short i enjoyed the game even it was a oldie, but for some odd reason i missed it back in the day. Glad it had a second chance. I can recommend this to anyone who liked fable, i think that is the closest game that comes to this. have fun

Re-Released, more than re-mastered. But without the EA/Origin stuff on the side, which was what killed the game initially. Overall, worth buying on sale for a solid RPG experience, or just nostalgia.

I've pumped over 100 hours into this game and I loved it to bits. Right up until I'm at the point where I have to close chaos portals in the last dlc after the main story. The first few went totally fine but now every time I come near one the game crashes. I've done everything I could think of and nothing works. I've troubleshooted many many games successfully but this game is just broken. From the solid 5 stars I would've given this game it got eradicated to a 1 because it's maddening that I've played for so long only to be f'ed at the end by a gamebreaking bug.

Don't misunderstand, this is a great game with a good story. It just suffers from a difficulty scale problem. It becomes too easy too quickly. Add to this that this revamped version has crashing problems-- enough that I'm annoyed enough to write about it. Crashes require a computer reboot, which is frustrating
