Game:

You're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Thrust into a raging civil war, you watch helplessly as invaders storm your village and slaughter your friends and family. Narrowly escaping the brutal attack, you grab your sword to fight back. Avenge the death of your parents and help repel the invading forces!

Story:

Bohemia – located in the heart of Europe, the region is rich in culture, silver, and sprawling castles. The death of its beloved ruler, Emperor Charles IV, has plunged the kingdom into dark times: war, corruption, and discord are tearing this jewel of the Holy Roman Empire apart. One of Charles' sons, Wenceslas, has inherited the crown. Unlike his father, Wenceslas is a naive, self-indulgent, unambitious monarch. His half-brother and King of Hungary, Sigismund the Red Fox, senses weakness in Wenceslas. Feigning good will, Sigismund travels to Bohemia and kidnaps his half-brother. With no king on the throne, Sigismund is now free to plunder Bohemia and seize its riches.

In the midst of this chaos, you're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Your peaceful life is shattered when a mercenary raid, ordered by King Sigismund himself, burns your village to the ground. By bittersweet fortune, you are one of the few survivors of this massacre.

Without a home, family, or future you end up in the service of Lord Radzig Kobyla, who is forming a resistance against the invasion. Fate drags you into this bloody conflict and shoves you into a raging civil war, where you help fight for the future of Bohemia.
  • Massive realistic open world: Majestic castles, vast fields, all rendered in stunning high-end graphics.
  • Non-linear story: Solve quests in multiple ways, then face the consequences of your decisions.
  • Challenging combat: Distance, stealth, or melee. Choose your weapons and execute dozens of unique combos in battles that are as thrilling as they are merciless.
  • Character development: Improve your skills, earn new perks, and forge and upgrade your equipment.
  • Dynamic world: Your actions influence the reactions of the people around you. Fight, steal, seduce, threaten, persuade, or bribe. It’s all up to you.
  • Historical accuracy: Meet real historical characters and experience the genuine look and feel of medieval Bohemia.

Amazing and beautiful game!!

Aside from some performance that I fixed with a GPU driver reinstall (even though the performance is still disappointing) I have no regrets with this game. Beatiful.

A mix of good and bad

This game is very difficult to rate Some aspects are undoubtedly above excellence: the graphics are still great, the plot is interesting, the reconstruction of the Middle Age is majestic, and the NPC are generally very charismatic and well written (my favourite are Hans Capon and Father Godwin). The world is huge and you have a lot of missions and activities. Usually you can solve the quests in different ways, so playing this you feel a great sense of freedom, it reminds me of Morrowind and Gothic 2 somehow. Dialogues and voice acting are ok. On the other hand this game has many problems. First of all, the saving system is probably the worst i have ever seen in a RPG, very frustrating. The combat system is realistic and it works fine for me: problem is that it was clearly thought for 1v1 combat and every time you face more than one enemy (it means the 90 per cent of the times) you are basically screwed because the movement is clunky and unresponsive. Beside this fact for some mysterious reason if you are losing a battle you cannot turn back and flee, because you are locked to your enemy and again, you are screwed. Using a bow could be a solution...theoretically. Because you don't have a f***ing crosshair, so you miss the 9/10 of the shots, it's embarrassing. Other mechanics are just...weird: riding a horse is a chore, alchemy is a disaster, and there are other strange annoyances. For instance, you are the apprentice of a blacksmith but you can't forge anything (a modern game without crafting, are you kiddin' me?), you lived by a river since childhood but you can't swim, etc. In particular I hate the fact that, if you are overencumbered you can't fast travel even if you are riding a horse, does it make sense? No man, it doesn't, and it makes all the hunting quests nearly impossible. All in all, my advice is to play this game: if you have enough patience it can give you a lot of fun. But remember that it's not a game for everyone, so be cautious.

Ambitious but rubbish.

+landscape and historical accurate cities +realistic armour and weapons +underlying priniciple -everyting else, sadly -and most of all story and characters The melee combat is a complete mess. Having the same controls (moving your mouse) for choosing the direction of your attack and moving the camera simply does not work, you just end up turning away from you opponent all the time. As for the ranged combat, yes, not having a mark in the middle of the screen (where your arrow is pointing) is realisitic, but you don't get any feedback about the position of your hands in-game (obviously), so most of the time, targeting is just guessing and hoping for the best. The progression and stat system makes the whole combat system utterly useless, the game is a complete mess in every way, but especially balance wise. But the worst thing by far are the story and characters. I have never encountered such a uninteresting and boring cast of characters in any book or game i have played/read. The protagonist couldn't have less character depth if he was represented by a cardbord cut-out version of himself. The atrocious voiceacting just drives this mess deeper into the ground. There are only two games right now, which i started and deliberatly stopped playing, this and Final Fanatsy XIII, where the characters weren't just boring, they were also really annoying. A combination which is an achievement in itself. I wanted to like Kingdom Come, i really did. But the overall realisation of an awesome idea falls flat in almost every aspect and this might be even worse, than FFXIII, because i didn't have such high hopes for that game.

Unique in its genre

This game is a love letter to the genre, combat is fantastic, presentation is stellar, the story engrossing, all mixed into one of the most immersive titles I ever played. Love this game.
