But first things first, you need to survive. Train your men up from puny victims to master warriors, carry your wounded squad mates to safety and get them all home alive. You are not the chosen one, you’re not great and powerful, you don’t have more ‘hitpoints’ than everyone else and you are not special. Unless you work for it.

what can be said about this game that hasn't already been said. Its really what you make of it, you can be an explorer, trader, base builder, bounty hunter, etc.. it is set in an entirely handcrafted world with a huge variety of ecosystems and communities that can be explored for hundreds of hours. It has a huge modding community and regularly receives patches from the developers (if you're worried about how it runs). I cant say this game is for everyone, but if its appealing to you despite how different it is, you should really give it a chance.

it was 2018, i had one of that >>what-should-i-play-Moments<< and stumbled upon this weird looking indie. Kinda bad to mediocre graphics and a RUSTish setting. Definitely not cheap... but i was hooked and after 2 days i bought it.
At first it felt very clunky, unpolished and unoptimised. May its just one of that MEH-Games that want to ride the survival-Trend-Wave...
Kinda disappointed i kept going, but then something happened.

There were these postapocalyptic scenarioes. Random. Brutal. Emotinal.
At first it is hard and unforgiving, until you learn the rules of this world and it becomes a lot easier.
Anything could happen and death was just the quickes outcome, perhaps the best :P
This game is realy old and you feel it everywhere, but its a unique experience and you get lost in it. I'd say, its more like reading a book, where your imagination has to build up, than a normal modern AAA-Titel.
I love this game, but i cant play it ... you need a real good PC to have large gangs in more than
3 locations on the huge map. My i5 6600k and gtx 1070 where working real hard.
You can get it a cool cell-shading look and get borderlands-feels.
Concept, lore and sound are facemelting (good).
Gameplay and bugs are a wall to get over at first
Graphics are okish, but sometimes beautiful.
You have to imagine, there is a small team behind this project and these guys pour their heart and love into it.

This is what I think about while I'm at work. I consider various strategies while humans are speaking to me. It's the worst best thing I've had the pleasure of being tortured by. Please don't play this game.
Tips for those who are starting... Mine and sell copper, buy the cheap jerky for food, use sneak to avoid enemies, and stay near towns until stronger/better equipped. Once you nail down these foundational steps, you'll figure out the rest and be able to play however you want.
I got frustrated and quit playing this game because it is unforgiving and literally throws you into it with no explanation. I gave it a second chance, used the tips above to get started, and eventually built an autonomous base with an army, found all technology, and completed/killed every major boss and in the world. It is now one of my favorite games, super fun.
It's doable, just give it a chance, and watch an instructional video on Youtube to get started if you get stuck.
