Homeworld® Remastered Collection

Ruined the original gameplay but it looks nice. The whole point was to be able to take your fleet into the next mission. You still can but you will face a much harder opponent unless you destroy your fleet. So what's the point? Only real improvement is not having to collect all resources at mission end.

Homeworld is a great game, but GoG's support for mods sucks! Wanted to install the scaling mod, but after 3 hours of research and attempting to install, no luck. This was the first game I've bought trough GoG, and I'm not impressed!! 5/5 for the game, 1/5 for GoG.

I'm not impressed with the remastering, the new user interface is not as user friendly, the actual game play is not as enjoyable. I literally only play the original versions.

There are many excellent games out there and as a gamer since 1983 , I have played many but there are only a few legendary games and this is one of them. Its obviously inspired by the original Battlestar Galatica ( you can even add a BSG Mod) which is no bad things but it's its own story with amazing comic inspired cut scenes. It takes a bit to get used to with the controls seeming odd until you realise they are perfect for this type of game. It still looking amazing in the 21st century and then when you play the remastered versions , you realise just how amazing this game was and still is. If your looking for an absorbing story line set in space with amazingly beautiful graphics , this is it. Its up there with Half Life, Dungeon Keeper 2 , Syndicate , Fable, Company of Heroes etc as a game you will go back to.

The new visuals of HW Remastered Collection are nice to see and if you're a player who focuses in things like this you should buy it. On the other hand there are a few things which are worse than in the original version. Unfortunately only english voices are available. You can change the screen text into your favorite language but all chatter and speech and audio storytelling is english only. If you consider that the original version was released in various other audio languages this is a step backwards. Also some other things of the gameplay have been modified. which had an impact on the immersion in the original version. At least it would be good if the develeopers had given you the choice of which gameplay experience you want to have. Now there are a few more automatic procedures that are nice for the progress of the game but it feels not better. Last thing is that the collection doesn't include HW Catclysm. Maybe it wasn't possible but as the owner of the license rights it would have made sense to have all parts included in the collection. Conclusion: If you don't played HW before this collection is right for you. If you own the original version you should stay with it.
