Homeworld: Emergence

This cannot be... Cataclysm is back, well not in title, but at least in game, good thing I don't need to look at the new title in game, but heck "we will not be bound". Loved to play this game, rebuilding from mining vessel to a revenging destroyer. I'm a sucker for the homeworld series and cataclysm in particula. Really hoping on a remastered version just like the homeworld 1 & 2 have been greatly remastered. Releasing the original cataclysm would be a great start on that path: 'acknowledged developers, we'll assist you however we can. All Homeworld Fans report in'

My favorite, after the original. The port is rough (make sure you use OpenGL graphic modes for best stability) but oh so good. A must buy if you like the original.

This is actually my favourite Homeworld game. It's got a great story that you don't need to have played the other games to understand, but it actually has some enhancements that weren't even included in HW2, even though it came later!

I also feel that this is the finest game of the original Homeworld series. As other reviewers have already mentioned some of the gameplay improvements, I appreciate being able to attack from the map's overview. The new fleet is even more enjoyable to learn and apply to the more varied missions. I gave up on the source code being found and have run the original CD for years instead. Thank you, Gearbox, for not giving up and re-releasing my favorite Homeworld game!

That's right. You start as miners. Instead of being the epitome of Hiigaran technological might, your mothership starts with containers used to haul ore. And through a chain of sometimes fateful and always dramatic events, you journey through an epic of galactic horror and self discovery to find out just what separates miners from warriors. Don't take my word for it. Go watch the first mission on YouTube. I never got comfortable with the space RTS mechanics of Homeworld. The actual gameplay did not prevent me from enjoying the game though. In fact, the game engine is pretty good at rendering epic space battles. This game is an especially good fit for a RTS player looking for a game that's heavier on the story.
