Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice

The main thing that this game can give is inspiration. Especially for people with "subtle"(invisible) disorders of the body. With such a difficult to share, tk. you face misunderstanding. It's not visible. Most people think that you are imagining everything, you are making yourself an actor, that you want attention, that your symptoms are petty. Senua's story helped me to understand that I'm not alone. I'm with Senua. That we both suffer and struggle. I like to know that there are people like developers(Ninja Theory) who made the game on behalf of a person with "subtle" symptoms. I can not speak for other sick persons, but it seems to me that it is also important for them to seek inspiration in order not to despair. I very often want to just disappear, dissolve, cease to exist. This desire is difficult to control. For this and other reasons, inspiration, hope and motivation are very important. So I really appreciate this game and the people who did it, and also to people who helped developers, bought Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Such works of art are rare. Of the similar, unless there is a film "Stay" 2005. The game helped me, although Senua had mostly positive symptoms. I would very much like to see a work of art with negative symptoms. This is even less in art. I have not met yet. Such art is important for the reason that it spreads information among people so that they understand and do not stigmatize people with "subtle" diseases.

This game is dark, fascinating, thoughtful, beautiful, and at times just downright terrifying. This is easily one of the best games I've played in a long while. Senua, herself, is one of my favorite characters in gaming. It's hard not to feel for the girl, and yet she's such a strong character. Whoever did the motion capture for Senua is a genuis. The combat is pretty simplistic but kept me intrigued throughout the game. The visuals and sountrack are outstanding. The game is a little short, but it works for this title. If I had to say anything negative about this game it is that it doesn't have much replay value, but what it lacks in that it makes up for in being memorable. I would strongly suggest playing this game with headphones. If the price is right, then give it a try. You won't regret it.

Have played as far as the first boss fight and that's as far as I'll be going. There's no tutorial so if you're not very familiar with this type of game (like me) you are at a massive disadvantage. I didn't even know there were fight combos until I came across them on the internet. And that's what ruined it for me. I'm a casual gamer who doesn't enjoy the "challenge" of hard fights and spending hours getting to know the game's fight mechanics intimately. All they had to do was make the Easy combat setting actually easy. Other than the combat it is brilliant. Everything everyone else has said about the story, graphics,Norse mythology, immersion etc is bang on and I loved it. Shame the combat killed the game for me.

Just finished this game and here it goes... graphics: beautiful, detailed but not too shocking, plays masterfully with the main theme of mental difference of perception. sound: wonderfully executed, uses Heilung tracks, best played with a surround or headphones, this one too plays masterfully with the main theme of mental difference of perception. Gameplay: well this is where you may feel let down because it has compbat, very visceral i might add, very souls like paced, but very simplified. it alternates between enviromental puzzles and some of the mentioned combat. Overall: it is a beautifull story driven, slow paced, descent into madness with themes of nordic and celtic mythos, resembles a mix between silent hill and the latest god of war. it's very well put together and it will leave you very impressed and touched. The actress of Senua does a phenomenal part, giving Senua a believable part in medieval time where although she is aflicted, enpowers the female to a new heights. I won't go too deep in the review beacuse its a game about discovery, without any handheld progression, where it drops you in a cruel world a makes you feel in the skin of Senua. it has minor bugs, but its impact overshadows its flaws. its a game for patience and emotion, where the development of Senua becomes the main stage of an already beatiful world. 10/10

Addressing the point that almost every other reviewer is making - the story in this game is absolutely phenominal. Without giving too much away the ending works well and is delivered in a way that is impactful. On to the frustrations - very minor frustrations really. The majority of this game involves solving puzzles with little combat, you do a lot of walking around and while the visuals are stunning it can feel a bit tedious and repetitive at times. For me, that aspect was right at that point where you give the game a break and get ready to move on to something else but get drawn back because of how good the story is. I understand that this is part of the story, but this game almost takes it too far (at least for me). The combat itself is very basic, you're essentially limited to two defenseive, and two offensive actions. With that said, at times the combat can still be quite unforgiving. This style works when your focus is telling an interactive story and experience, which ultimately is what this game is doing (and does well). If that story telling genre is your thing you will definitely enjoy this game.
