Nice shooter
Good oldshool gameplay. I find chapter 2 a little bit to long for the simple story. Thanks for support linux ;)

Excellent throwback shooter!
I have played many of these old-style shooters and this is one of the best ones. It is not just a clone or a callback; It does its own thing. Through its runtime you have a linear section followed by open hub levels where you will start questing in. There is a lot of attention to detail to make everything seem lived in. The game has you fight large battles with great weapons, uncover secrets (some puzzling required for some of those), accomplish quests and progress a story. It even gives you some agency on how to pogress quests too! The art is very well done. The setting is a bit out there, yet it kept me engaged throughout. The game also changes how you play it during its campaign. The soundtrack is a mix between unreal, metal and atmospheric pieces. All-in-all, I really enjoyed this game and would put it up with Amid Evil, Dusk and Ion Fury as one of the best ones in its genre and outside its genre still as a good game.

An expertly crafted retro-style FPS
Hedon is a criminally underrated gem put together by one absolute mad lad who had a passion for drawing thicc orc and goblin girls, created an entire world full of lore for them, and then used that passion and drive to learn how to make a game out of it. The artwork and technical feats pulled off here make me very often forget that this runs on GZDoom engine. It's seriously very impressive work! Level design is incredible, and the attention to detail continues to impress me the more I play the game and examine it. The puzzles are not simple key hunting like a Doom game. There are loads of quest items to find and use to make your way through the levels. Maybe you need to power up a switch with a crystal, knock down a wall with a pickaxe, or dig around with a shovel. Sometimes you need to craft items. Read all the scrolls you find! Not only do they expand the lore of the world, they will give you clues for how to make progress. The weapons are all outstanding. They sound great, feel good to use, and they all have alternate fire modes giving you the right tool for every type of situation. Also, as in games like Heretic and Hexen, you'll get plenty of items for powerups and healing on the go. Don't forget to use them! They make a huge difference for big battles. I enjoyed it so much on my first playthrough on Hardcore, that I started ANOTHER playthrough the following day (something I rarely do for games) using a different difficulty, Bearzerk, which is an entirely different way to play it and definitely worth going through again with. Seriously, give this a game a go.

Trying to make RPG on Doom engine
Idea was great, but execution is not. Doom engine was NOT designed to make adventure/RPG game. You are gonna spend most of playtime running like crazy around a maps (which are a BIG ones) looking for quesst items. Biggest problems of this game are: lack of helpful quest journal and map without markers of quest objectives (showing only doors with key needed).

Pretty Dang Good
Hedon is a welcome addition to the growing number of retro FPSes. Using a modified version of GZDoom (OpenGL source port for old Doom engine games), Hedon definitely captures the look of the 1990s FPSes it draws influence from. Hedon plays alot like Strife, with a Tolkien aesthetic. Hedon also has its own lore which makes story progression interesting. The environments in Hedon encourage exploration and can be navigated intuitively, a bit like Quake or Unreal. The only thing missing from Hedon is multiplayer, yet its single player is fun enough on its own. Hedon has earned its place among Dusk and Ion Fury as a retro FPS worth owning. Played on Windows 10 and Linux Lite 4.2, both 64bit. Nvidia GT 730 (low profile) graphics.
