Description
Welcome to the Wild West like you’ve never seen it before. Hard West isn't the deepest game of its kind, but it does a good job of walking the line between cold, hard tactics, and Weird West-style personality. Its mystically-inspired abilities add a fun twist to the X-Com formula, even if they do remove some of the need for tactical forsight. A richer world outside of combat would have been nice, but as is, Hard West still presents a fun, unique take on turn-based tactics.

Needs improvement
The game's very blurry on my quad hd monitor, all the resolutions they support are not quite the aspect ratio I have on my 2560x1600 monitor. I also can't leave the game to check messages or anything, I have to actually quit to get back to my desktop on OS X El Capitan.

Starts Okay, Declines Quickly
The game starts out promising enough with competent tactical combat but that's really all the game offers. Other elements of gameplay are clunky and bland. After about ten hours of play, the tactical combat gets repetitive That is nothing to say of the casual cruelty and racism. Being kind, the way the game handles genocide is culturally insensitive I love this kind of game, but I don't even really like this

Teh suck
The roleplaying parts are WTF text-based 1980 dungeun crawler shit, that you just wish to end ASAP by random clicking so you can get to the next combat situation. The combat is iffy as fuck and more frustrating than entertaining. Make a mistake - those are, by the way, exceedingly easy to make - and you have to restart it. And I dont talk about like boss battles or anything. No, every single battle is fucked if you clicked wrong. I would rate this game three if it wasnt because of the hype, because I was expected like baldurs gate roleplaying combined with shadowrun combat. This is a game that a narrow group of players who like gameplay like this will find exciting, but its not for anyone else.
