FREE TO PLAY THAT’S WORTH YOUR TIME
A fair and fun progression system turns the effort of building a competitive collection of cards into pure pleasure — simply collect new cards to build decks with as you play GWENT; no strings attached.
STUNNING, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD
Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.
SKILL BEATS LUCK
Crush the enemy with brute strength or outsmart them with clever tricks — no matter your deck, GWENT’s unique round-based gameplay opens up a world of strategic possibilities to play with when fighting for victory.
MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY
Whether it’s a quick online game against a friend, a highly competitive PvP challenge, or something new and wildly adventurous like the Arena, GWENT’s selection of game modes has got you covered.
EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY
Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.
NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS
You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?
The game requires an online connection to play and offers optional in-game purchases.
I played a lot of hearthstone but couldn't keep up with all the new expansions as a F2P player.
Gwent is not only more generous of a game but is keeping me hooked for so much longer.
Spent great time as beta tester of a great game which was called Gwent. I had really lot of fun the playability and rewards were great. All what we need was some fixing and more cards mechanics, some improvement of graphics. But still this game was at least 4,5 stars or even 5. I did not spent as much time playing in any other game in such short time ( 10 months Dec 2017 - Oct 2018) i got 750 hours of enjoyment. But no if something is good it should be changed, totally. Devs said to us: we will improve Gwent, we will fix it, we'll cut one row, because rows now will matter (and intentionally they showed us in short movie "Iris"!) whole community was against this. As well as other drastic changes. And now we got something what should be not called Gwent. HC is not fix, HC is just different game. They threw to dumpster diamond and gave us cow's dung wrapped in golden paper. This game is just boring, clunky, animations are so slow. Anyway that's just mechanics, i'll tell you something about playability and enjoyment. So now there's no cunning moves, no improvisation, no strategy. Nothing that you'll have smile on face when you just.. lost, because your opponent outplays you :) Now most cards are just the same (numbers, damage or buff) into deck you'll always put same neutral cards to make whole provision system work. The Devs of CDPR (or management don't know which step of ladder failed us) are so arrogant as they said "community we hear you", but we shouted that we don't want these changes. And they made this abomination and even they called it HC rather should be Farfromhome. By this "business model" approach i am giving this thing one star (game should be 2,5-3 stars most). And i am curious why are here so many ppl who rate this game five stars? Yes Witcher 3 is on this rating, but this game? Even for fanboys how could it be? With so unhealthy balance, with so many bugs, with these growls and moaning of leaders, anti lore system, bad filters and many many more.
Gwent has several strong points. The balance is good and there are various deckbuilding options, but most importantly it's easy for a new player to collect cards. You can probably get a couple tier 1 decks as a free to play newbie in like a month if you know what you're doing.
However, the transition from beta to full release feels like more of a step backwards than forwards in several aspects. I will mention the biggest issue: time.
Compared to closed beta, the game plays several times slower. Since beta: there are now 16 turns instead of 14. You can no longer drag and drop cards. Half of the cards, and most leaders are "Orders" cards, which means you have to click on them again to use their ability. You're forced to click the end turn button, instead of an auto-pass. Last and probably worst, every single thing has some dinky animation that takes way too long to resolve, and you're forced to watch it since you can't even do anything as it plays.
Even when I want to spend time playing, the game wastes my time. Does CDPR really want me to play gwent, or do they want me to look
Pretty good. Hand Limit and Row Limit are some terrible changes from Beta IMO but aside from that its probably been an improvement. Not a fan of divorcing card effects from character lores either (Bloody Baron)
