FREE TO PLAY THAT’S WORTH YOUR TIME
A fair and fun progression system turns the effort of building a competitive collection of cards into pure pleasure — simply collect new cards to build decks with as you play GWENT; no strings attached.
STUNNING, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD
Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.
SKILL BEATS LUCK
Crush the enemy with brute strength or outsmart them with clever tricks — no matter your deck, GWENT’s unique round-based gameplay opens up a world of strategic possibilities to play with when fighting for victory.
MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY
Whether it’s a quick online game against a friend, a highly competitive PvP challenge, or something new and wildly adventurous like the Arena, GWENT’s selection of game modes has got you covered.
EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY
Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.
NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS
You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?
The game requires an online connection to play and offers optional in-game purchases.
Do not listen to those review of players wanting old Gwent back, With the new team working in and the wholesome new expansion arriving this game is getting the the steps it needed to become again the best Card Game!
So I have never been into trading card games. Sure, I collected the Pokemon cards when I was a kid and played YuGiOh a little, but never really hardcore. I simply never got the appeal. Gwent is the most addicting and fun card game ever made. It's a simple concept, but the strategy goes so deep! I can't remember any game giving me a more satisfying feeling when I beat an openent knowing that he lost to me. Not luck or anything like that, just outsmarted. Seriously check it out. It's free and there's plenty of progression without having to pay anything. Of course there is a pack system that you can spend money on, but I think they are pretty fair and how much they give out.
Anyway. It's worth it. You will be in deck builder for hours on end if you give this game the smallest chance to hook you.
Background: My first card game after yugioh (played it years ago). I am aware of the current critique on the homecoming update. And no, I haven't played the beta. Yet, I still kinda follow the updates and news of other card games out there (HS and yugioh).
Pros: I like how this game is more wallet friendly (not surprised since it is a thing of CDRP) and I can see how dev worked hard on to easen the experience of newcomers which made feel less intimidated compared to other card games that require many hours just to grasp the basics.
Cons: It is not like other card games with lots of effects where you barely can follow what happens in one single turn after a quick chain of effects (gives some action and depth to the game mechanics). This is bad and good though.
imo the game is on the right track and and still developing. I hv good feeling about the dev team that's why I decided to take this journey with this particular game.
I'm sad to see that Gwent has a low rating because I think it is a perfectly good game.
The game is free, and I have never felt like I had to pay for anything just to get an edge over other players. I started with basic cards and worked my way up to getting better cards which is how it should be. You inevitably see people that have bought all of the best cards but I don't get bent out of shape about it. If they want to spend their money, then they can spend it.
Also the newset update Iron Judgement has put in more cards and more mechanics, and I think this is the best way to add content the game. Yes, it might cause you to have to rework your established strategies but I think it keeps the gameplay interesting. No one card or deck is going to be the best forever.
All in all I think Gwent gets a lot of negativity because it has changed so much, but I like that it's trying new things. There are issues with balancing and matchmaking but I don't think any game can be perfectly balanced anyway. At its core the game is well made with many types of cards, factions and tactics that you can choose from, and if the classic mode is getting boring then you can always have a go at the current seasonal matches. The art style is great as well, though I would love a lower graphics option so I could play on my old laptop.
The only thing I would like to see as an improvement to the game is adding more kinds of matches. Something like a mode with the extra siege row, more seasonal style modes with unique advantages or handicaps, etc.
Definitely a game worth trying out!
I played several CCGs but nothing comes close to the greatness of GWENT. This game is completely F2P and you will want to support it with real money because of how generous it is. The card animation is extremely beautiful. The game mechanics are amazing. The devs are very active with their community which makes me love the game even more. Just a simply addictive game. Highly recommended.
