FREE TO PLAY THAT’S WORTH YOUR TIME
A fair and fun progression system turns the effort of building a competitive collection of cards into pure pleasure — simply collect new cards to build decks with as you play GWENT; no strings attached.
STUNNING, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD
Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.
SKILL BEATS LUCK
Crush the enemy with brute strength or outsmart them with clever tricks — no matter your deck, GWENT’s unique round-based gameplay opens up a world of strategic possibilities to play with when fighting for victory.
MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY
Whether it’s a quick online game against a friend, a highly competitive PvP challenge, or something new and wildly adventurous like the Arena, GWENT’s selection of game modes has got you covered.
EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY
Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.
NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS
You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?
The game requires an online connection to play and offers optional in-game purchases.
I agree with all of the other 5 star reviews. This is the best card game I've ever played. The game is generous. The matches are tactical and fun. The art is gorgeous. The devs have been largely responsive to feedback, and they have steadily improved the game over time, though there have been some steps back at times as to be expected.
Overall, well worth your time if you like card games, and even if you don't I would recommend giving it a few hours of your time to see if this one peaks your fancy.
For months now there have constantly been only a handful of absolutely busted decks that ruin the experience for everyone, and CDPR does nothing about it.
They launch one small balance patch a month, and keep on ADDING MORE CONTENT WHEN THEIR GAME IS ALREADY INCREDIBLY UNBALANCED AND SO MANY CARDS ARE WORTHLESS.
Cards that haven't seen play since launch are still terrible.
But real quick, pre-order our 70$ expansion bundle, not like the next patch is going to be absolutely broken as well.
+ Highly addictive
+ Easy to learn
+ Feel the climate of Witcher
+ more grown up than Hearthstone
+ Eye-catching graphics and animation
- Minor errors at the moment but patches come out often
I've had a life long love for card games. Poker, magic the gathering and now Gwent. Really well polished game. I normally don't write reviews but this one totally deserves the 5 stars.
Try it out if you haven't already.
Hello there, this is my first review.
Prior to playing Gwent on Windows, my digital CCG experience was limited exclusively to Hearthstone. Once you find a deck that you really enjoy playing, card games can become a blast to play and offer an incredibly joyful experience.
Hearthstone is generally more quick-paced (majority of games are against very aggressive decks or rather fast combo decks) than Gwent ; at least in the Wild format, which I play almost exlusively. Whereas the average match duration in Hearthstone is about 5-10 minutes, Gwent seems like 10-20 minutes.
I personally wouldn't bluntly say that Gwent requires more skill 100% as there are quite a few tricky Hearthstone decks aswell in the format. If you are a Hearthstone player and enjoy control decks / value decks (that tend to have a rather full handsize and lots of possible plays at any given turn) a lot, I'm very sure you will enjoy Gwent aswell.
Gwent seems also rather calm compared to Hearthstone. Decks like 'Quest Mage' can be rather aggrevating (Flame waker, sorceress apprentice + evocation and 10+ spells in a single turn) whereas in Gwent you can play only one single card per turn, which in many aspects makes it way easier to keep up with what is happening on the board.
Not exactly sure about the e-sports scene in Gwent, though it seems the developers are really working on that.
While Gwent has a lot more in-depth statistics than Hearthstone, it misses very basic features like a spectate mode which contribute greatly to this game in my opinion. It's very relaxing to eat and just chill while spectating an interesting match in Hearthstone - reckon the same could be said about Gwent if the developers were to implement this arguably highly sought feature.
+ unique gameplay (calm, 1x card per turn)
+ customization in form of reward trees, avatars and many more
+ detailed statistics
+ generous in terms of f2p
- lacks features like spectate mode
- some bugs (e.g: soundloop in reward tree)
