Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
Extremely polished game, with great exploration, good puzzles and superb fights with the right pacing. It's not grindy, has huge amounts of content and graphics and music are very pleasant to see/hear. Dialogues are very well written and all in all you can see it was made by a gamer for gamers, just like the old times. I highly recommend it.
The game is nearly unplayable because the mouse just doesn't work. It's laggy as all get out and there are no fixes that I nor Google had that worked. Needless to say it's a waste of time and money when there's a known problem about the game since it came out and the developer has done nothing about it.
It's obviously a niche game. I've enjoyed Wizardry 8 (although haven't finished it). I've also played Wizardry 7 at the time. I've played more of this genre like Eye of Beholder series, Dungeon Hack (a spin off from EoB), Lands of Lore, Anvil of Dawn, Stonekeep, M&M6-8 (which all are newer to Wiz7, but anyway). So I've decided to give this game a try.
Right now I can only say, I can't enjoy this game, and the main reason is that it's terribly boring.
Nothing is explained -- which could be tolerated if the game had value. It's basically turn based combat with little sane choice for the player. The combat is SLOW. I haven't noticed a single fresh idea in game that could keep me playing.
I really mean there are games of this genre which deserve to be played over this.
Two stars for the devs effort.
P.S. Mad because can't refund working game on GOG.
After more than a decade, this near-masterpiece was released to critical acclaim and incline ! The Neanderthal continues to work tirelessly on The Manual in his Bunker. We can only dream of a DLC !
