One of the most acclaimed adventure games of all time is now back, better than ever. Grim Fandango's epic story of four years in the life (or death) of Manny Calavera, travel agent to the dead, has been remastered to look, sound, and control even better than when it won GameSpot's Game of the Year award upon its original launch. Grim Fandango still stands as a classic of the genre, with unforgettable characters and unique combination of film noir and Mexican folklore.
Grim Fandango Remastered includes:
Repainted, hi-res character textures
New, dynamic lighting
Classic score re-recorded with a full live orchestra
If they made an animated move using this plot, I'd watch it! Brilliant and unique story line, first rate voice acting and graphics, and some fun and clever puzzles make this one a calssic. The only thing holding this back from a 5/5 is a handful of puzzles whose solutions are so obscure, that they detract from enjoyment of the game. Overall though, good fun.
Let me start by saying I grew up on Adventure games and played almost all of them as a kid. I LOVED the remastered versions of the Monkey Island Series and even Day of the Tentacle. THIS remaster had me scratching my head, trying to figure out what was actually remastered. The graphics aren't great and the screen is is a 4:3 format with bars on the sides of the screens. The cutscenes are obviously not remastered as the models look worse than those from when you are playing the game. Remastered indeed -- you will not be impressed by the graphics in this game.
That being said, the game is humorous and somewhat enjoyable. The controls are weird -- the inventory ATROCIOUS and a huge pain to sort through.
Great game but I had to launch it on my desktop to save the game, port the save file from C:>Usersname>Appdata>Roaming>Doublefine>Grim Fandango and then put these files on the laptop while at the same time toning down all settings because the game was stuttering.
Very advisable not to get discouraged because of that and go through because IMHO this game is better than Monkey Island.
