Grim Fandango Remastered

I originally had this game on I don't know how many cd's. the cd's died before I finished the game, and so I was overjoyed to get this one on GOG. One of the finest games of the genre, puzzles which are not impossible, but not too glaringly obvious, a fascinating story line, a sense of humour, magnificent ambience, original. I find most games slightly disappointing, I will play anything, but soon forget the most games. This is a game I remember, and the ending. Normally games end all of a sudden with a cut scene which makes me feel that I spent a lot of effort getting nowhere. I truly enjoyed the end of this game, I think the best way to describe this game is to say that it was satisfying to play, and satisfying the ending.

This is my first time playing this. I'm happy with the story line, the soundtrack and the morbid humour. However it is usually not obvious what the next step is or what to do to get there, which is really frustrating. You end up conversing with NPCs multiple times, and travelling back and forth and revisting place multiple times, and it might not be intuitive to use something from the inventory. Each stage is like a sandbox with a plot. It's interesting to wander around and explore the landscape but that gets old very fast... And you depend on walk-throughs after that.

I love this game so much, is my favorite game of all time, and I was very happy to see it in a remastered version. I don't know about english-users, but for portuguese-users at least it was the best dubbing work ever done, and probably will be the best of all time, which makes this game even more special. The problem is: the remastered version doesn't have so many changes in comparison with the old one. The menus are beautiful, but that doesn't change anything in gameplay, there's 16:9 support (doesn't add so much in the game because 4:3 is great too) and the "big" thing is that the lights are smoother which "repair" some pixelated traces, notable on faces and itens from inventory. Oh, now there is "point and click" interface, but I can't write about it because I didn't used it any time (the tank controls still great to me, there's no necessary to change it in my opinion). There is a LOT more that could be done. Like I said, the remake is not THAT change, but just the fact that I can play it without tons of bugs, with all kinds of languages and subtitles (for non-english players, it was VERY hard to find a good release, at least in Portuguese it is), makes the purchase a very good choice.

After a long time i could play this game again, but following a successful installation, i click the icon and nothing happens... It simply didn't run. (Win7 64).

I couldn't run fast enough to something to save my enthusiam for this game. No wonder they were giving it out for free a while ago.
