Description
Gods Will Be Watching is a minimalistic “point and click thriller” centered on despair, commitment, and sacrifice as players face narrative puzzles and moral dilemmas that will affect both the lives of your team and the people you’re are sworn to protect.

Set against the backdrop of an interstellar struggle, Gods Will Be Watching follows Sgt. Burden and his crew in six tense chapters from hostage situations and wilderness survival to biological weapon prevention and agonizing torture scenarios. Each decision is crucial and players will need to choose between the lives of their team and the saving the world from genocide. There's no good or evil, just decisions, with only you and the gods as a judge to your actions.
  • Set morals aside as you navigate Sgt. Burden and his team through harrowing predicaments and make decisions that will either save your team or sacrifice their lives for the sake of the mission.
  • Solve a wide variety of narrative puzzles and moral dilemmas using your own wits and burden the consequences of your choices. Do you intimidate or comfort your hostages to maintain your tenuous control of the situation? Should you kill the weakest member of your party to save on food for the strong? What is one life worth in the face of annihilation?
  • An innovative departure from the traditional point and click adventure taking place in six intimate, tension-filled scenarios linked together through an epic narrative of interstellar espionage.

Good Game but falsely advertised

The game is good, but is falsely advertised. It is not as story focused, but more of a resource manager. A really hard one. Not really what I expected, but okay. The graphics are ok, I really like pixel art, but this one did not look that good to me. But I think that the game is a bit too random (on original difficulty), and the player can not make save states or change the difficulty after starting a new game. I do recommend this game for people that like that like resource managers and are able to resist frustration.

By the Gods, this was a great game.

This must be one of the best games I was blessed with playing this year. As some others say you either love it or hate it. The story is great, the gameplay is interesting but difficult, even cruel. (you really can lose at no fault of your own, but that is how they designed it. You could always try the easy difficulty..) The gameplay does vary though every chapter, and you do not do the same thing over and over.

Repeatedly wastes your time. Too Bad.

I discovered this when it was a single screen playable demo, I played it and got intrigued. I learned it had been turned into a full game and I wanted to give it a try. I have played and endured the game till the end but oh boy ! it is tedious ! This game feels amateurish done, sure it has nice visuals and an interesting concept and story but the way its done shows that the people behind the wheel lack experience in game design. Lacking in interface and controls, the random element is omnipresent and at times it feels winning or losing is more a matter of chance than anything. No way to skip the dialogues during intro (you can click to skip to the next dialogue, there are a lot of dialogues so be prepared to click a lot, you can skip some cutscenes by going back to the menu and selecting skip cutscenes only to get another cutscenes). This turned the game in a tedious repetitive mindless experience preventing any form of immersion in the story which sadly is not bad. The game is mostly a succession of stages made of one screen where your character is put into a situation where you have to interact by clicking to open menus and clicking to open sub menus and clicking to select an action (no shortkeys). Your first steps will be figuring out what each action does what. Each mistake means you will lose and have to start again. By the time you have figured out what does what, you have to choose what action to do next according to the current state of the game usually based on visual cues and body language. Once a stage is won you get stats on other players choices and you could retry it to do it differently but I was so fed up with the repetitive and random death that I would not replay any stage to explore this missed opportunity at replayability. The last boss battle is about hoping he will not throw series of his move that you have to counter by moving back. In the end it feels like the game has played me and that I wasted a lot of time due to design flaws.

Not for everyone, but if its for you....

GWBW is a brilliant puzzler. As stated by other reviewers, this is not a point and click adventure, it is an unforgiving series of narrative-driven circumstances that the player must attempt to survive. The game may look reminiscent of the ol' point and click games from Lucasarts etc., but, aside from the graphics, it is anything but...Guybrush never had to survive a marathon torture session where one wrong choice could mean death, if i recall. The game may become repetitive, if the player fails too many times that is. The developers have added more user-friendly game modes for those who want to see the story play out. so that is not as big an issue as when the game was first released. For those who have watched some videos of TGWBW, know what the gameplay is, and are still interested in giving it a shot, I would HIGHLY recommend TGWBW.

Commando Management

Great story, different & difficult kind of gameplay - if you ever managed a team or a crisis situation, you'll get the idea. Finished the game & the free add-on and loved it. It was quite hard and took many replays but I found it positively challenging and the Sci-Fi story kept me on my toes the whole time. Some things seems awkward till half of the game but things click as the story unravels. Are you smart enough and will you sacrifice some of your teammates to keep the rest your team alive and save millions?
