Before man climbed down from the trees to shop in megastores and drink cappuccino, before the Earth wadded itself into a cool blue ball, before the Moon even existed, there was the Island. The Island, a massive fragment of a long-lost planet, hurtling blindly through space. Upon the surface of this paradise wanders the giant, Kabuto. Little does Kabuto know that the Island was home to others before him. In the oceans, there dwells a matriarchal race called the Sea Reapers. In their pride, they created Kabuto, as a defense against intruders. But Kabuto became conscious of himself, his loneliness, his pain - and he went berserk.
Space castaways, the Meccs piloted their ship through space, looking for their missing friends. If you haven’t guessed already, they ended up on the Island. Faced with yet another unscheduled layover while on their way to Planet Majorca, the Meccs decide to make the best of their temporary home. Just their luck - the natives are already embroiled in their own little war, and the Mecc visitors are most unwelcome!
Meccaryns... Sea Reapers... Kabuto... One island isn’t big enough for the three of them.

This game is hilarious. It is filled to the brim with over the top British humor (think Monty Python). From what I remember the game play itself is nothing overly fantastic, but it is without a doubt fun. I definitely recommend this game if you enjoy British style humor.
I really loved this game when I played it, but the GoG version was a bit disapointing:
it's the english version which I though was better than the french one, but that's not the case, the french version was awesome ! the english one is... good
and the other thing that disapointed me: it's the censured version :D.
[Note:] Played the game for the most part with the latest version of the Giants World Domination patch.
Giants: Citizen Kabuto is a game that was stuck the back of my mind for a very long time. I saw a lot of hype about it as a little kid in local gaming magazines when it was released. I hadn't actually read the reviews though, because the monster was spooky and the blue lady made me feel weird (don't think they censored anything, at least in the promotional posters).
I picked up GCK after I already played through Shiny games like MDK and Sacrifice. Sacrifice is one of my favorite RTSes of all time, so I thought that perhaps GCK would be like it, just with less focus on units and more action, maybe more variation. There were some similarities to a small extent, but overall, I did not find the gameplay as gripping and most importantly, the story was pretty meh. I appreciate the humor, but it wasn't enough to keep me interested enough to not skip some cutscenes. Not that I did it out of the lack of time, I did it mostly because my game had a tendency to crash in between some cutscenes, so after a harder level, I just had to skip to make sure I wouldn't lose my progress. It seemed like there was maybe a 50/50% chance that the game would save and I would be able to just start the next level after the crash, but once I had to redo a level, I didn't want to test my luck further.
I loved the jetpack in the Mecc section on the game, I liked the Delphi sections, but the eponymous Citizen Kabuto was the biggest letdown of the game.. Didn't really feel innovative compared to the previous sections, and didn't feel imposing or powerful enough whether playing as Kabuto or against Kabuto. The final boss fight was a joke and the ending was rather abrupt. Also, the base building / RTS part of the game was not exicting, definitely liked the Sacrifice approach more. Sacrifice just did the whole 3rd person strategy better, lot more fluid, easier to control, etc.
So yeah, 3.6.
I remember buying this when it was released but my poor humble pc back then struggled with it so i didnt keep it.
So glad to see a site do older games and now i have the 3d power to see this game in super hi rez glory.
Ace game.
