Giants: Citizen Kabuto
Description
Before man climbed down from the trees to shop in megastores and drink cappuccino, before the Earth wadded itself into a cool blue ball, before the Moon even existed, there was the Island. The Island, a massive fragment of a long-lost planet, hurtling blindly through space. Upon the surface of this paradise wanders the giant, Kabuto. Little does Kabuto know that the Island was home to others before him. In the oceans, there dwells a matriarchal race called the Sea Reapers. In their pride, they created Kabuto, as a defense against intruders. But Kabuto became conscious of himself, his loneliness, his pain - and he went berserk.
Space castaways, the Meccs piloted their ship through space, looking for their missing friends. If you haven’t guessed already, they ended up on the Island. Faced with yet another unscheduled layover while on their way to Planet Majorca, the Meccs decide to make the best of their temporary home. Just their luck - the natives are already embroiled in their own little war, and the Mecc visitors are most unwelcome!

Regretfully, NOT a very fun game
I really wanted to like this game and the genre-blending concept is great, but think twice before you buy it--Singleplayer mode is very frustrating and NOT fun. The landscapes you are forced to jet-pack across to complete missions are huge, vast and INCREDIBLY BORING. NO SAVE GAME and ALL cheat codes are disabled-prepare to start at beginning of mission and spend 15-minutes jet packing back to where you lost health. Game seemd more like a really crappy version of Tribes with British accents and bad level design.

Not a total disaster...
...but darn close to it. This game had a lot of really neat and innovative ideas that, in the end, just don't come together to form a good gameplay experience. The gameplay is somewhere in between Tribes, Warcraft, and at times even Metal Gear. Only, by "in between" I really mean "composed of all the worst parts of". Sloppy shooting mechanics, half implemented RTS features, and some stealth sequences so awful that they will make you cry. The MP fits right in with the rest of the half arsed execution of the game, and good luck even playing it on anything other than a LAN as the netcode is super shoddy. So then, why doesn't this game get a 1 star? The answer: The humor. The humor in the storyline and ingame cutscenes is very British and often hilarious. It is just too bad that the rest of the game is such a mess. Bottom line: Some interesting concepts that don't even come close to coming together to make a good game.
