New and Improved

Deluxe Edition Includes:
  • Artbook
  • Soundtrack
  • Rocket Star Corporation DLC

In a near future ravaged by wars, corrupt regimes and devastating pollution, influential corporations have created the Genesis program in a last-ditch attempt to save humanity.

As the Captain of a Genesis starship, you journey into uncharted space on the ultimate mission. Build and manage a space vessel, farm resources, deal with terrifying alien infestations, clone creatures and explore a vast, randomly generated universe.

Go Rogue

Huge, randomised galaxies ensure every run in Genesis Alpha One is unique. Choose one of three difficulties or tailor the game to your playstyle with the Custom Game Mode. Discover new planets, circumvent asteroid fields and survive encounters with the Mechanics and Framen, space pirates who will board your ship to destroy your ship and all its inhabitants. Death is the end and once all your clones are dead, the mission is over. However, you will carry through artefacts unearthed into your next playthrough as well as unlock new corporations, making you more powerful with each attempt.

Build, Upgrade, Explore

Starting with a small vessel, you’ll have to build and maintain an intergalactic ark by combining dozens of upgradable spaceship modules including crew quarters, workshops, hangars, clone labs and greenhouses.
Using an intuitive building menu, easily snap together the pieces of your ship to tailor it to your playstyle. Develop your vessel and then explore your creation in first person.

Battle Alien Infestations

Alien infestations can spread quickly, contaminating the ship and crew. It’s imperative to wipe them out before you become overwhelmed and your ship is destroyed. An arsenal of weapons and defences can be researched to help you fight the alien threat. Unleash an array of powerful weaponry, research alien diseases to heal your crew, equip new abilities and deploy warbots to devastate the alien hordes.

Clone and Create New Lifeforms

As your ship grows, so must your crew. Using ground-breaking cloning technology, your crew will expand to meet the needs of the ship.
Loot DNA samples from the aliens you encounter across the galaxy and splice them with members of your crew to give humanity a chance to prosper with abilities far beyond what was previously imagined.

Delve Deep Into Vastness of Space For Valuable Resources

In order to expand your ship and sustain your crew, you must explore planets fraught with danger. Gather elements such as Copper and Uranium and harvest plants to sustain life aboard your vessel. You may also find alien artefacts and intel from those explorers that have gone before, and not lived to tell the tale.

Excellent athmosphericspace exploration

in the line of Dark Star and also the Alien franchise, it will feel very familiar to anyone who played survival open world games like Valheim, Death Stranding, The Forest (franchise games) or Subnautica. It has an eerie beauty of the lived-in horror and loneliness of multitudes of clones, as we start our days as one and end them so, like some sort of a "message in the bottle" ship a fool's hope or a fool's errand. Some mechanics may be infuriating , but acceptable. It remains to be seen as well if the research tree will show itself to be interesting enough in mid and later game. Edit: Wellll, there is the good: - The game's balanced in the mid-game the difficulty ramps up with pirate attacks, infestations and the need to repair and review the layout of your ship after those and the bad: - like Valheim, the game will crash and take away all your progress. Yes, still in 2025 there are people and game companies which produce single-save games, where one can't save manually, and the mechanics of which will not bat an eye to overwrite a file with content by a file of 0 bytes... So, I am, unfortunately not going to replay your game.

If it hits, it feels like a (good) punch

To clarify, I got the game free. But I could see the price still worth it. PS, apologies for my username, did not know I was this corny when I made the account LOL At first I had a hard time with the game, a simple loss felt like a punch. Losing my first save to an alien infestation really did not feel jolly. And learning the mechanics took a bit of time, like the command console or briefcase or whatever was hard for me. Spent 30 minutes trying to figure out how to board my ship again after clearing the rouge one. And the idea of how the layout of ship modules/rooms became a bowl of spaghetti first, before I realized you can before hand plan the layout so you can be logisticly effective plus have it easier moving around (you can easily get lost in that soup of corridors). But once I sorta got a hang of it, it hit like a punch. And I feel in love with the style! Sure, it can get annoying manualy crawling through every space to check for any parasite. But if you build correcly, so its easier to transport raw materials, it becomes a smaller area you need to search! Small things like that is so satisfying once you figure it out! Or like what weapons suits best depending on the job for the clone. And the stress of seeing pirates follow you makes the game more like chess! I can definetly see why this game throws some poeple of, and why it attracts like a magnet. I like it, I recommend it! And try to have fun, remember --> you can customize your ship (sorta). Idunnu, make the building cool!

I'll stop playing as I fetch gunpowder

I sunk six hours of my Sunday into this game because I needed to "just finish this thing". I was surprised at how good this game is - I wouldn't expect the blend of FPS and strategy to mix as well as this. The FPS is satisfying - not insanely difficult but definitely enough to keep you on your toes. Plus you get to upgrade your pew pew pew from what your enemies drop. The base building is great. I'm still on my first run of the game so I've made lots of mistakes in building my ship. I thought I was applying some common sense but on my second run I'm definitely going to do it a bit differently. The game has a nice difficulty curve. It is roguelike so in my galaxy seed I started off fairly close to some difficult content. So instead of going to the closest galaxy I hightailed it off to the "south" where stuff was easier. Definitely worth trying out - I'm really hoping for more DLC or a sequel or something. But in the meantime I'll just keep exploring.

Surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

Picked this up on whim as it looked interesting and must admit, I really enjoyed it! An FPS base (spaceship) build with resource gather and shooting in a randomly generated star cluster. Its is some mini tasks that are not very engaging, and there is repetition, but on the whole I found my self kind of caring about my crew, my ship and 'the mission'. Will definately replay a good few more times yet.

It's not perfect, but who is it?

This is a very fun roguelike that dares to get out of the beaten path and tries to do something new. I like the cheesy 50's sci-fi vibe and it's atmosphere. One huge bonus is the modular way you can build your ship, the game really lets you go to town (within limits) on what your ship design is going to be. To be honest, it has a number of flaws. The gameplay loop can and will become repetitive, and most of the ship modules don't really have anything to do (some side games or interactive objects would have made them feel more lived in). I would have liked for the crew to have a little bit more of personality but then again, since its a rougelike its all procedural so having compelling characters is almost imposible since all of them are also expendable. You can change their names so thats something! So, why the five stars even though this game has those flaws and more? Well, easy, the developers really stepped out of the comfort zone and created a game that to my knowledge is unique. It might not be the best base builder, nor the best space exploration game, and it certainly cant compete with the polished action or visuals of your AAA game. But it is the best game that combines all of these themes into one. I think the result it's pretty solid. If you like this type of games give it a try,. It's more than worth its retail price, but if you are on the fence get it when it goes on sale.
