Enhance your Frostpunk experience - buy Season Pass now to save 30% on all DLCs and get the Frostpunk soundtrack for free.

"(...) this is a game about finding reasons to survive rather than just the means to go on living."

- Adam Smith, Rock, Paper, Shotgun

"In a steampunk ice age, the only thing that can be crueler than the bitter cold are the decisions you have to make to keep your people alive."

- Stephanie Chan, VentureBeat

"(...) decisions push your morality to its limits for the sake of productivity, which could make for an captivating, draining adventure when the game releases later this year."

- Suriel Vazquez, Game Informer

In an ultimately frozen world, people develop steam-powered technology to oppose the overwhelming cold. The city ruler has to manage both the inhabitants and the infrastracture the citizens live in. Leader’s tactical skills face challenges, frequently questioning morality and the basic foundation of what we consider an organized society. Here optimization and resource management often clash with empathy and thoughtful decision-making. While city and society management consume most of the ruler’s time, at some point exploration of outside world is necessary to understand its history and present state.

What decisions will you make so the society can survive? What will you do when pushed to the limits? And...

...who will you become in the process?

THE CITY MUST SURVIVE

Frostpunk is a city-survival game where heat means life and every decision comes with a cost.

MAINTAIN THE HOPE

Survival is about hope and will to live. Your ability to spark and maintain these two in your people will be a determinant factor for success.

MAKE THE LAW

Society is a group of people abiding the same rules and sharing similar beliefs. Establishing laws and customs will be a crucial factor shaping your society.

WEIGHT YOUR CHOICES

Will you allow child-labour? How will you treat the sick and wounded? Frostpunk challenges a player’s tactical skills, while questioning one’s morality.

EXPLORE

The world covers not only bits of the past but also the potential means to secure the future of your people.

Great fundation game...insecure details

Good game , and the 'standard' model of it includes what should be the obligatory set of ''story laced scenarios & heres the game without any win condition...play for ever if you want'' for a city/survival title like this. It got spot on ambiance , badass music intuitive controlls and very logical..and at times ruthless ingame mechanics....but... The second you look around its menus your being slapped in the face with various areas thats 'locked of'..with built in 'go to store page' shortcuts.. for that it loses 3 stars and do thus fall down on a meager 2 in rating for me despite its stellar content and rock solid UI....simply because if there is one thing I hate to see...so is it allready pree built 'infrastructure' in a product for things thats not Included when I buy it. And this makes me Hesitating to buy anything more of them..specialy when seeing 'season passes'' Since those are infamus to not be worth ther price....or to be a method trying to hold the 'additonal content' hostage for a customer through drm.

Steampunk +IceAge in peaceful strategy

+&- +Atmospheric setting; steampunk meats a new IceAge +Difficulty settings are adjustable in good steps +Archivements are fun and various +peaceful strategy game +despite being a more simple game (compared to the Total War series or Europa Universalis) it is oddly satisfying when you play on the (for you) right difficulty settings (you have a low amount of parameters to adjust, like weather, economics, no saving and no pause mode) +research & passing of laws makes two lovely progression trees +4 different scenarios + 2 (with DLC 3+?) endless modes actually feel different despite the more simple game mechanics +expeditions + outposts gets you "out of your town" +choices in laws (A or B) +lowest difficulty can still be challenging and fun when you go for special archivements +little bugs (had 3 in 75h) dissapear after a restart of the game) -there could be more laws -others complain the moral decisions are nostruggle as you don't feel with the characters nor are the effects hard enough, but i would say i would miss the workforce when i just kill my problems, (this partly comes from me trying to archive challenges for that i needed many ressources) -you are not able to annul laws -not enough laws to make the book of laws satisfying -NO multiplayer (two cities, supporting each other or stealing ressources could be a lot of fun!) -research could be more -Endless mode get's boring once you are stable (weekly algorythm no bigger challenges the longer you play) it's mostly(!) just good to learn the game better or to build your perfect city -micromanaging can get annoying (mostly a sign for playing on a too easy level) really recommend this game, And i will buy the DLCs sooner or later. When you are still struggling but see it on sale somewhere, buy it. Looking at the two current DLCs (The Rifts, the last autumn...) a the third on the way (2 years after release) + considering that they patched it to v1.5 this January this game will rather get better than anything else.

Unexpectedly good

The base game (I don't have DLCs) really pleasantly surprised me. I was a bit afraid that I wouldn't like the game (based on some of the reviews here that said the game is boring, short and such), but it proved to be a totally positive experience! The game mechanics are fun, it is really pleasant to look at, and even the story (though delivered in bits and pieces) is intersting enough that you actually want to know more. Also, there are three main scenarios in the main game, each different enough to make it interesting, so even though the game isn't exactly "long", it will last you a while. All in all, I really enjoyed this and I really don't understand why people give this anything below 4/5.

Great Game with Interesting Concepts

This is a great game. Can be challenging. It has a number of morally grey choices to be made, which add a very interesting element. The resource gathering and tech tree are well done. Some elements are frustrating with not enough time to complete the required in-game tasks (though perhaps this is just me) I would reccommend.

Is pretty good

Gets kinda old after a while as there's not too much content for it, but at least there's child labor and forced amputations
