Peaky Wot?
Short background: I’ve always wanted to go to London, but doubt I’ll ever make it. Even though this is a blown to pieces version, it filled some of that craving. That’s saying a lot. These guys hit the bullseye in more ways than one. Nothing seems amateur. What strikes me the most is the sheer size. Not just the map(s) size, but everything down to the tiniest minutia. That goes for voice acting, quests, and immersion. I started looking up images of the IRL places and it seems both the highlights and lowlights make an appearance. I don’t usually just walk around looking at the views in a game and compare them to the real places on the internet. In fact, I never have. Not that the player can just stroll along. I’m an old man, so I had to tick down the difficulty a bit. Don’t expect FO4 difficulty. The addition of a hideout early on is a welcome relief in v1.02. Looks like my grandkids bedroom in there with all the stuff dropped on the floor. The gang situation goes from a cool Peaky Blinders type to the ludicrous Clockwork Orange vibe. As a Yank I barely understand what some are saying, but it’s not because of the sound quality. I can’t understand some guests on The Graham Norton show either. In fact, I’ll milk that for my summation. Take some entertaining folk, lube them up with a bit of alcohol, and see what happens. Every time I think I’ve seen what the game has to offer, something new comes along that cracks me up, soils my drawers, or both. If you’ve held off, or moved on, because of the hiccups, now is the time to visit Ole Blighty. FYI I cleared out any Steam FO4 stuff and did a fresh GOG GOY install and then FOLondon. No mods or tweaks, just hit play. Only two CTDs in over 200hrs and both seem related to the London Bridge settlement. I just avoid it. Don’t tell my old lady, but I haven’t had this much fun since my first marriage.
