Big game made by small hands

Before I started writing my review I took a pick down below to read what others wrote about this game. Personally I think this game deserves better. Sure it has problems, its not like we have a new FF game, but give this guys some credit. A small studio tried to make a big game and actually this game isn`t bad at all. I bought this game during winter sale cause I wanted something new, different and yet I wanted to play JRPG. I can`t say I didn`t enjoyed it, but I can`t say it`s best JRPG out there, but my overall opinion is that this game is good just need more polish, more work for sure. Story is blend, I agree, it starts ok but then later loses focus and become something else... Characters are very roughly designed with weird faces for JRPG game, but this is not work of Japan masters.. Skills, inventory, progression are done pretty good, too complicated if you ask me, but well designed. Environment look really good, might be best part of the game. Enemies are well designed but sometimes it feels like they don`t belong in this game at all. From technical aspect this game runs poorly, often FPS drops, open area especially, too demanding hardware requirements for this type of game. This all my opinion about this game, but when you put all that together to form opinion, it`s not bad, but it`s not that great either. A solid middle ground if you ask me. I would never recommend this game for those who don`t play JRPG much and just want new and good JRPG game, but.... If you already played best know JRPG games in the genre and you want to tr y something new, sure pick this game, it will disappoint you in so many ways as it disappointed me, but you will like it anyway if you give it a fair shot.

a very impressive indie

Visuals- -10/10 SoundTrack- -10/10 VA English- -9/10 VA Japanese- -9.5/10 Story- -8.5/10 Gameplay- -8.7/10 Most of the time, it's hard to remember that this is an indie game-- the production quality, along with the clear care for the genre, style, and craft, gives off a tremendous impression! the game's systems [interactives and operations in/out of battle] are honed into just where they should be- not overly complicated or overly simplistic, and all settled into a beautiful presentation! at the same time, it is worth keeping in mind, that the game IS in fact independantly developed, and so users should expect some hitches and hiccups. to my personal taste; the Japanese voice-over, mixed with the English subtitles is the definitive experience. the game aims to be something VERY specific- do not expect it to compete for the position of 'next biggest rpg' or anything-- at the end of the day, it is a straigh-forward turn based JRPG, packaged in some of the best visuals possible for the genre.

Edge of Eternity

Nice visuals, thing to do, crafting, the gems, etc... BUT... the "no fun" boss fights are finally a deal breaker. At level 33, I've spent some time messing around with the game. There were a few time before this stage of the game when I almost uninstalled, but didn't. Well, the Junkyard, broke the camels back..... and that's it. Uninstalling. When difficulty and some fights become work and aggravation rather that having a good time, it's time to dump the game. Sad too... some very nice aspects to playing ... especially the "Kitty Horses".... and riding them.. yee haw, compared to some other games with a critter to ride.. The dev's got these guys down pat. But, even for a super cat lover, it's not enough to mitigate the horrid, no fun .. fights.

I have played JRPGs for years...

...and this one is not that bad. It is buggy yes, but for an indie title everyone should give it a chance. The story itself is decent. Cringe dialog, yes but any game can have that. Not sure if it's the voice acting or the way they edited the audio but it's so-so. The game systems are pretty good, exploration, crafting, quick travel, etc. All typical elements of RPGs and well executed. It actually had a couple of things in it that I wish were in some of the AAA-rated RPGs. The ONLY real complaint that I have is about the two main characters...I have never ever played a game where I actually hated a character, "bad" or "good" guys. Yeah sure characters can be annoying, lame, or indecisive but at some point during the game they show signs of redeeming qualities. None of that exists in this game between the brother/sister duo. ANY of the supporting characters would have made significantly better main characters. By the time I reached the end of the game I wished them nothing but complete and utter failure. Some people may like them, but personalities like those are not for me. Otherwise the game would have gotten the full 5 stars from me. Minus 1 star for each miserable character.

simple but fantastic

The game won't seriously challenge you, but not every game needs to be a bloody souls game. The game is fun, not very grind heavy, even on hard. not sure how much harder it is on nightmare, but after I beat it, i'll give it a try
