DUSK reintroduces you to a world where butchery and bloodshed must be mastered... if you're to survive 'til dawn. Inspired by Doom, Quake, Blood, Heretic, Hexen, Half-Life, Redneck Rampage and all your '90s favorites, while featuring a soundtrack by metal music mastermind Andrew Hulshult.

In three distinct campaign episodes hand-crafted from straight outta the '90s, players will battle through an onslaught of mystical backwater cultists, possessed militants and even darker forces and attempt to discover just what lurks beneath the Earth. Featuring a vast arsenal of badass weaponry including sickles, swords, crossbows, rifles, dual-wielded and double barreled shotguns and incredibly necessary grenade and rocket launchers, DUSK brings unapologetic retro action from start to finish.

In addition to the main campaign, DUSK features an Endless Survival Mode, putting you front and center against wave after wave of merciless enemies.

And for those looking for an extra challenge, DUSK also offers the chance to go head to head online to battle your friends in DUSKWorld arena multiplayer, where darkness hosts the worst of humanity in surprising new ways...

DUSK features cross-play multiplayer and the exclusive THE GOGATIORUM map for endless mode.

Lovely.

Fast, bloody, some puzzles (find the key etc), some nice suprises, secrets to find and a distinctly creepy horror feel to it. The gameplay is honest - shoot, kill everything, find keys to unlock doors, find weapons, ammo, health etc. Feels really good - you can tell its made by gaming enthusiasts. (I love the loading DOS screen!) Starting the game - boom, its there at the menu, your into the game. Very little messing around. Just like Doom (in a good way). Definately has a good Doom/Quake feel to it, plays a little faster though (you can walk, but generally its Quake 3 speed of play). Weapons are good, a nice spread and not too over powered - a good balance between firepower / health / enemy strength. Graphics are simple, but you get used to this, and its actually a good thing - it simplifies the game somewhat - its all about the action and finding your way thought the level. Levels are not too long either (at least so far, from what I've played). Highly recommended if you like games such as Doom etc. Notes This game palys fast! If you suffer from motion sickness - this game may not be for you. I seem to have developed mild to moderate motion sickness in some FPS games. Gone are the days of hours of Doom/HL/etc. I played Dusk for about an hour and it triggered bad motion sickness - from the speed of the game/turning/running etc. Just something to be aware of. Its worth adjusting the Field Of View a few times until you find one thats best for you, (I also find playing in a squarer format (ie not super wide screen) can help. I had issues with my mouse jittering all over the place to start with. Solution was to turn on my xbox controller (that is paired to my PC) whilst playing. Must be something to do with input devices that the PC has registered (but not being used). Too a while to figure out! Mouse control is smooth and spot on now!

DUSK, a modern FPS giant

DUSK is one of my favorite PC games of all time, fitting right in with the likes of Quake and Half-Life. Truly more than a simple homage to 90s FPS games, DUSK is filled with surprises, replayability, and one of the best movement control systems in any FPS games. Without major spoilers, the storytelling and atmosphere are nearly perfect. Unlike Quake or Doom, meaningful boss and miniboss fights arrive at just the right pace. I would even go as far as calling Dusk a bit of a Horror game at times, due to the enemies and oppressive atmosphere. The game even includes cheat codes, and encourages out-of-bounds exploration. I cannot think of another game where I can shoot magical cultists on a farm while double-backflipping and wielding dual 1887 shotguns. The OST is amazing, Andrew is a genius. I don't listen to a lot of video game music, but the sound track is great listening even when not playing DUSK. Minor complaints would include the rat enemies, nobody likes them much and they're a Duskmare run ender. Duskworld is pretty dead for the most part, but it's still a welcome inclusion and getting a game together with the community or friends should never be an issue. Also, an early-game secret allows far too powerful of an arsenal in the first few maps, but it's easily avoided and Intruder mode is always a valid way to play for those seeking a challenge. Still, these complaints are so minor I almost didn't include them in this review. With mod/workshop support coming, along with a Switch version, DUSK is just getting started in my eyes.

Lovecraftian

This game is a nice shooter game. Completely in the style of Quake and maybe a bit Blood: Fast movement, fun to use weapons, great enemies to shoot at, really cool level design. And Andrew Hulshult has really done a masterpiece with his soundtrack. The music ranges from atmospheric undertones (bit creepy sometimes), to full creepy tones 8i want to get out, I want to get out!) to pure action ones (yeah! give me stuff to shoot it! More!). There are even a lots of secrets to find. And some nice nods to other old games. So what are you waiting for? Christmas? Buy it now! You wont regret it!

Glorious 90s Level Design!

The game is plain awesome. Quake + Blood feeling at once. Its fast and runs on Mac, Linux and Windows. (I tried all three Versions, even on my Macbook Pro its more then playable and yes its 64Bit for all Catalina Users out there.) Graphics are great, with a cool matching art style. Well either you like it or not, I like it. Sound is the best in a Computer Game for the last 15 years in my opinion. Alone for the Soundtrack I would get it. Level design well thought out, like any 90s fps shooter. Something I miss in modern shooters these days. They are to much focused on useless skins or emotes or pointless weapon updates. For the price I would say its a no brainer. Like some here mentioned a Coop Multiplayer would be the icing on the cake.

Amazing

This is perhaps the best next shooter after doom 2016. The first episode is a tutorial, the second one is where things get weird. The third one is some Levelord tier shit. Don't let downshifted graphics fool. Environments are atmospheric and beautiful. Some levels are even scary to play. This all would be for nothing if the shooting wouldn't be tight as the sailor's knot. 90s era shooters (which this game aims to emulate) were always measured by their shotguns, and this game has 3 variants of them. It's a pleasure to shoot. To the devs: please make more.
