Don't Starve is a fantastic little sandbox survival game. As one of many unlockable characters, you must gather supplies, food, and items to cook and craft what will be necessary for survival. And man, surviving is tough! This is not an easy game, despite its charming visual appeal. This, for all it's worth, is the Dark Souls of its genre. You WILL die A LOT. But the fun in dying is each time you start again, you bring with you new knowledge. Don't Starve is all about learning, and it makes you learn on your own. There is no hand-holding and no instructions. The crafting menu hints at possible recipes but the rest is up to you. With its atmospheric and charming visual style and endless challenge, Don't Starve is a little gem that's supported by both community and developers alike. For this price, it's a no-brainer. Also, please remember to eat while you're playing, don't starve!

If you are into to an uphill battle for survival that only gets rougher as you go, this game might be for you. Take it slow, and get used to all the things that are trying to kill you (including yourself.). Then if it seems to be too easy, go through Maxwell's Teleportato to initiate your first "challenge" - be warned though... You may only survive a few seconds at first as you freeze to death or get stomped out by a three story tall deerclops that follows you throughout the land. It's a macabre story full of death, starvation, and insanity with you as the puppet. Or if that's all too much to read. Basically it's a 2.5D survival game vaguely comparable to Minecraft. The biggest differences are that it's less about the creativity and interactivity, and more about the strategy and survival.

I have spent a lot of time exploring and leraning how to play this game. When you start, don't expect to stop playing before a few hours later, you will always want to collect a couple more things, build one more thing... The game is very difficult and unforgiving, so expect frustration and starting over and over again. Strangely, this is what makes the game so long-lasting. You learn and then, next time, you are prepared. And then you die by some other stupid mistake. The graphic style is very much to my liking, too, cartoony, weird and funny.
