Could have been so much more...
I absolutely ADORED the first game in the franchise. Disappointed by the sequel Beyond Divinity, I thought Larian had finally made amends by making this game. Was I right? read on: The good: -Beautiful soundtrack by Kirill Pokrovsky (RIP) - by far the game's finest feature. - Voice acting is ok. I liked the variety in accents. -Sense of humour. -Moral ambiguity of some choices. The bad: - Not enough exploration. The previous games were full of little details and easter eggs. By comparison, this one feels like you've been given a spacious cage. - Imbalanced level-up system. Just make a mage and roast everything (sort of) with Fireball. Other skills, apart perhaps from Mind Reading, feel like they don't matter. - Lack of Linux support (it's a big deal for me). I was eventually able to run it by tweaking via Winetricks. But the cutscenes remain broken. The ugly: - Absolutely atrocious camera control. This is what really broke the game for me. It seems to focus everywhere but what I'm doing. In conclusion: -It seems that the Divinity franchise is a one-hit wonder. My fault, I guess. for having such high expectations, especially in a Developer's Cut Edition. If you're a die-hard RPG fan, your money is better spent elsewhere.

Not worth your time
I bought this on steam a while back during a winter sale, and gave it a legitimate try. The story is good, but not engaging enough. It feels like its trying to be a single player MMO where you go do quests and turn them in to level up. Kill X number of baddies or collect Y number of things isn't engaging at all. I also have complaints about the balancing in this game. Using a shield is only gimping yourself. You can't use it to block and it doesn't increase your defense (wtf?). So the idea of playing the way you want to isn't even an issue. Either you play what makes you powerful or you suck badly at combat. Also, combat is either really really challenging and downright unfair in some spots or its too easy. It does not have any sort of a difficulty curve. Its more like a difficulty earth quake. It'll be hard for one fight then randomly be easy for several then you'll get into a hard fight again. No reason and no sense of progression. I will say the dragon combat is fun though, but does not fit with an RPG. Its more like an action game at that point. Also the invisible height celing randomly changes seemingly for no reason, so if you want to fly up and survey your terrain you can't... or you can... depends. On what? I don't know. There are way way better games out there. I wouldn't consider this game worth your time unless it was under $2 and you were really desperate for this type of WRPG.
