This is the end, my friend...really?!

As a preliminary point: The game is entertaining and well aged. Many funny, interesting quests, fast learnable combat system. Weird characters, beautyful landscape, plausible buildings. The base is right. First point of critisism: The story is not well told. It often was not comprehensible and confusing, and I had to take a look in the diary, wich quests were marked as main quests. This issue culminates in the unsatifying end of the vanilla game, a pure cliffhanger, that refers to the obviously already early planned add-on. Ok, this is no problem in the developers cut, as it contains the add-on, but it shows the attitude behind it. And this continues in the expansion. Again the main story is bad. Everything is running to a point of decision, but then there is no really decision. When you were equipped with mighty weapons and armour for the final fight, you will suddenly switched (for the first and only time in the add-on) in the dragon form, for a boring escort mission, that is unreasonable difficult as well. The stupid zeppelin is under heavy fire and goes on and on, and the only chance to save it (and together the game) is to eliminate the opponents faster than they will destroy the zeppelin. For me it was an annoyance, I finally activated god and mana mode. Second point of criticism: the character system. Principally it's a good approach to have an almost free access to different skills. But unfortunately, you dont't need them, almost nothing of them. Exceptions: Lockpick, one weapon expertise, and a few points in some skills to make life a little easier. With 30, maybe 40 skill points the game will be beaten easily. In the end you have almost about 100! The reason for it: The character values strength, agility, intelligence and so on (and their derived values) are too powerfull. They determine the over-all power of the character. And there is a lot of equipment to enhance this properties, too. The skills just put the cherry on the cake, but it tastes bland.

Crash to desktop all the time!!

I just bought this game. Installed it, getting excited, but then it crashes to desktop all the time after showing two intro WMV files. My laptop uses Intel HD graphics, so it wouldn't be a PhysX problem, right? Nothing works. Dammit.

I loved this game years ago

I remember playing this game years ago on Steam. It was always a fun romp playing as a slayer. Even though the character creation and skill tree was pretty limited, the story was always engaging. It felt like the further it progressed the more the game impressed me, and I just loved the game. However, something happened between then and now to where the game has some serious bugs to the point where it won't even load anymore. The steam version also has this issue and I'm very saddened by this. I do hope this game gets fixed soon. I want people to discover Larian's older games and it's not possible to explore this one in it's current state. I do recommend playing Larian's other games though. They're all very fun.

Expected disappointment

I'm not a fan of the series, the first 2 games are hideous, but I decided to give this one a chance since is third person and I kind of hate it, but it still has some good things to it - The graphics are beautiful, with a modern PC you can jack it up to the extreme without a hinch - The music is nice - The voice acting is quite good, paired with some good jokes and references - I like how agile the character is, you can dodge a lot of attacks, even arrows and magic - The world is apparently massive, I couldn't even retake the tower that, if the game is to be believed, works as a hub for an even bigger world - Crafting is a thing, from potions to enchantments, which is good I guess That said: - it takes too long to have accesss to your base, with a game that emphasizes crafting hoarding quickly becomes one of my priorities, except that I can't hoard because I have an inventory limit without the posibility to stash excess gear or crafting materials for later use, I assume the game at some point would let me, but after 10 hours is just taking too long - Enemies hit like trucks, specially if you are not focused on melee, is not much of a problem since you can dodge most attacks and dance your enemies to death IF you have the space to do so, and that's a big if because half the time you'll be forced to fight in close quarters, and that sucks - The high mobility also loses it's charm once you realize you cannot shoot while jumping - as enemies get harder they start using hitskin magic which hurts, a lot, plus these attacks stop you from moving ever so briefly, but long enough to be hit by a second attack, snowballing to you being made into a pulp in seconds - Except for scripted encounters enemies don't drop loot or gold so all your gold must be made through questing/selling things you find in containers, for a game that is trying to be a looter this is bad At the end the game is a mixed bag of half baked ideas (except for the voice acting) that I cannot truly enjoy
