A fantastic game ruined by mechanics

I just decided to uninstall it after 99 hours, I had enough. Why? Here are my thoughts: The GOOD: • Fantastic atmosphere • Detailed world • Beautiful hand-drawn graphics, excellent voice acting • Wide variety of available gameplay style and characters The not-so-good • Incredibly tedious gameplay. Lore is (verbatim) all over the place. Everything must be searched and read. • Can't zoom out enough (camera angle choices are limited) • Spell & fight animations can not be skipped, accelerated or shortened. Skirmishes dreadfully long, let alone major battles (sometimes I literally went on a coffee break while all enemies had their moves, and returned with a mug of freshly brewed coffe in hand, with time to spare) • Difficulty level settings are "interesting". Example: enemy on "normal" ~400/500/1000, on "explorer" (next setting down) it is ~150/200/350. • Getting proper gear is deliberately hindered, which is not very nice for such a heavily gear-dependent game (usable traders are far and few in between, crafting was practically useless for me, drops are seriously filtered, and you can't effectively use higher level gear even if you accidentally have a lucky drop) My advise? 1) Feel free starting on Explorer straight away, there is no shame in it. Spare your nerves, the "challenges" are really not worth it. 2) Save on every corner. The game LOVES to drop uneseen/hidden/burrowed/teleporting enemies on you (but maybe not so much of a problem in Explorer mode) 3) Search the forums on the net if you stuck, straight away. Some of the mechanics/puzzles/choices are really just plain stupid, and there is no point wrecking your mind with some twisted "logic". If you follow that, maybe you will have a wonderful experience. Clearly lots of love went into creating this game, which is now completely lost on me: I can't bear the sight of it anymore after nearly a hundred hours of misery. Learn from my mistake, ignore the "challengers" on forums, and enjoy the ride :)

Awesome RPG with minor flaws

This is the first game from the Divinity universe that I play and I am pleasantly surprised. The scope of the game is really epic and more important it makes it feel epic. This is the first game which really makes me feel as the one big shot who is going to save the day. The weak point for me is the melee combat. To stand next to an opponent an click him to death, without the possibility to block the attacks, feels very diablo 1.

Not outstanding, but still good

You won't be singing songs about this game after you've finished it, it's not likely to become one of your favourites... But you're gonna spend countless hours with this game, having a wonderful time. There's nothing unique about this game... the creators didn't aim high. They didn't go for the awards, or toplists. They wanted a mediocore, but flawless game. And they wanted players to have loads of fun. 4 stars? yeah. Some 5-star games might give you 5-10 hours of unforgettable gameplay. This one won't blow your mind, but will keep you entertained for weeks.

Overseasoned but undercooked

As the title of the post implies, this game's gameplay system is overly complex (especially with regard to item properties) and at the same time the game is pain and, literally, undercooked. It is artificially too long and the plot twists feel forced. Yes, the skill system allows you to respec at any time, but it is of little use in the end (no room here for details). In short, I love the RPG genre, but in this game I never felt that my 'role' or my 'character' truly mattered in this game. None of it ever felt substantial or meaningful. The open world mechanics are the same as in your standardized (and now universally dreaded) MMO, except you play alone... Like... go kill 10 goblins or some such... *sigh* At the moment of the 'major' plot twist (when most of my gear and cash were taken away), and when I began to encounter excessive filler, uninspired fluff chat and text (which did not feel like they contributed anything to the story or ... to anything, really) I stopped playing. I still have the game installed. I tried to play it the other day, thinking that maybe it deserved benefit of the doubt... Then I hit another primitive (yet annoying) puzzle, lost direction once again, recalled why I had been bored and uninspired by it back in the day... and then I decided to share my thoughts with you. I never had enough inspiration to finish this game (well, I can't generate inspiration on my own, when I play a game I hope that it will inspire me to keep playing and finish it). Oh, and the dragon transformation? Please... Arcade games of 20 years ago did this sort of thing better and made it more fun. But, hey, for 2 bucks, you can't go wrong. Hell, an average cup of watered American down coffee costs about that much. So buy it for 2 bucks when it is on sale. It will keep you occupied for a couple of hours, in case you have nothing better to do... But don't expect any depth, involvement, engagement or lasting satisfaction from this title.

Divinity 2: Developer's Cut

Its not my first time playing this game but it still amazes me how good and intriguing the game is. Even after completing it multiple times I can never get enough of this game! One of my favourite games
