This is one of the few games where I (surprisingly) felt like a superhero e.g. transforming into a dragon, dodging projectiles by jumping 8 feet above the ground and then slamming enemies with a longsword. It was amazing...
...However, this game is extremely buggy.
Firstly the game wouldn't even run out of the box, I needed to install an old PhysX version in order to be able to make it past the initial loading screen. Even then, I would seldomly CTD on specific cutscenes.Lastly, the game was stuttering when in combat (even on lowest graphics, on a 3 year old gaming rig).
Honestly, selling this game in such a state is just unacceptable.
If they fix those bugs and compatibility issues with newer rigs (highly unlikely at this point, but one can dream), this is a *pure* 5/5 game.
Only buy on during a deep discount.
This is my facorite game of Larian's. No muss, no fuss straight action RPG, exploring a beautiful world of magic and bloodshed. Unique touches like mindreading or collecting limbs for your pet creature are very appreciated.
I just wanted to leave this here for anyone who may have had the same difficulty with Divinity 2 crashing on Startup.
Here is a link to an Nvidia Physx driver that I downloaded and now I can play the game.

I just finished playing through Divinity II and I have to say of the original games, which includes Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity, this one is definitely the best. And that's not just because of graphical upgrades either, which are pretty substantial. One of the first things that I noticed was how much better the skill system is in this game. They took the best ideas of the previous two games and melded it into something much better. Another big improvement was the music. The music in the other games was great, but something about the soundtrack in this game just hits all of the right notes. I enjoyed the storyline quite a bit as well. I won't say it was filled with twists and turns, but it kept you invested. Playing as a dragon was quite enjoyable as well. I absolutely LOVE the fact that it has built in achievements as well.
The game engine is the Gamebryo engine of Elder Scrolls and Fallout fame and I can say that the stability of this game in particular was a pleasant surprise. I didn't have a single crash or weird bug through the first portion of the game, Ego Draconis. Flames of Vengeance was mostly stable too, but there was one issue there. The final dragon battle was the hardest part of the game for me. It was also the part with the most issues. If you tried to load a save in the middle of the battle, it almost always killed the sound in the game completely.
Another con that I'd point out would be the fortress battles. They became repetitive after a while. Not as bad as the battlefields in Beyond Divinity, but still. Flames of Vengeance had a large amount of side quests that seemed a bit misplaced what with a siege of the city going on and all. Without spoiling the plot, a major antagonist thread goes unresolved and likely never will get resolved which is sad. Other than these minor issues, I can't recommend this game enough. Definitely give it a try.
Is a TPP Action RPG, I.E. you control only you, there is no party. The combat is OK.
I played pure mage, is quite viable if you don't mater to run a little to keep your distance.
I used only 1 (one) summon through most of of the game and added a 2nd in the late game.
You can pause and save at almost any moment, in middle of the combat too.
The graphics are good for the time of its release. The storytelling is good within the game,
I'm not sure I like the path franchise takes with this game took. I can't explain without expoilling it.
It has a couple of unique mechanics, dragon morph and mindread. Mindread is the chance of
getting extra info in exchange of lossing some experience points. Dragon morph is the ability
of becoming a dragon and fight flotating / flying foes.
Comming from Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity, I missed visiting cities/settlement from other
races. There's very little of that in this game. It seems it was planned content that Larian had
to cut off to meet the deadlines set by the publisher. Such a shame.
If you want to play at higher resolutions, the size of the font may be an issue. You may wanna
check at videos on youtube of the game. The only mod for font size I found was optimized for
1366x768 so I played at that resolution. My sight is far from 20-20. You may use the same mod
for higher resolutions and be confortable.
PS: Some other reviews say so, but it doesn't feel like Gothic I nor Gothic II to me. Their
controls schemes are similar but Larian's and Piranha Bytes' world building is quite different IMO.
