Larian's greatest work.
Positives: You are encouraged to mix and match skills with no requirement to stick to a specific class. Most of the skills stay viable in late game and harder difficulties, Lots of secrets to find. The game really rewards exploration and the player who talks to everyone. Lock-picking is very useful unlike many RPGs where it's not worth the investment. Great lore and world-building. The writing is witty and amusing throughout the entire game. Lots of side quests that are just as fun as the main story. Negatives: Difficulty spikes that will no doubt filter most people. There's no real way around them aside from saving often and making sure you do all quests in an area before moving on so you will be higher level. When you reach these sections try drawing enemies away from packs either by using a bow or magic to pick them off one by one for a easier time. You need to install blankname's Div2Patcher to fix the frame-rate issues and bugs. Check pcgamingwiki for the link to said fix. After installing I personally had a perfect experience playing the game but this may vary for some users. Out of all the middleware RPGs I'd say this is the best imo. More fun then Two Worlds or Gothic and it's on sale fairly often so I think it's worth trying out if you like the genre. It's a shame that we never got a real sequel as this game is far better then the turn-based sodomy simulators that Larian went on to create. ESG really ruined that studio but hey what can you do?
