Destroy All Humans! is the remake, fans of the cult classic have been eagerly waiting for. This demo will give you a glimpse at what makes this dark humored alien invasion game one of the most beloved action adventures of all time:
• Slip on your jetpack, ready your Zap-O-Matic and start electrocuting those puny humans!
• Use Psychokinesis to grab humans, cows and more, then hurl everything at your enemies!
• Burn down the primitive human dwellings with the Death Ray of your flying Saucer!
• Play one of the brand-new Abducto-challenges: feed the giant abduction beam to help the Furon species study life on Earth
Expected Playtime is approximately 20 - 30 minutes
Demo is nice and well optimised, but extremely short. Only one short tutorial mission. It's hard to judge a game based on such short experience.
From technical point of view, there are 2 things I didn't like.
1. Cutscenes locked at 30FPS. Please give us option to unlock FPS in cutscenes.
2. Saucer up/down mouse control should respect inverted Y-axis mouse setting and also be inverted.
I'm new to the game, and I have heard a lot of good things about it. I have been very excited to play this game and hyped when I saw the demo.
Yes, the available mission is really short, but they also included a map for a sandbox gameplay, you can explore the area and cause a bit of mayhem, this portion of the demo makes gameplay unlimited while waiting for the full release. I think most people miss this since the trailer plays as soon as you end the 1st mission. Go back and play the sandbox map!!!
I used to play the 2nd game in my Xbox Classic back in the day, I loved it, so I had to give this one a chance, since I never really played the first game. I really really liked this demo tho, one minor complaint I have, is the sound, I think you can improve it, when I was flying in the saucer the explosions from everything, including the soldier sounds, were like muffled, they didn't sound that big, I mean an explosion should sound loud wouldn't it? Anyways, I'm sold, it looks like you really nailed the gameplay from the first game, and even improved it, I really need more from this franchise in my life atm <3
A very nostalgic game from my youth on the Original Xbox, it is great that Destroy All Humans! is getting attention again after the sad dimise of Pandemic Studios. Overall, the demo is extremely good and actually better than I first thought it would be! And as a littel shoutout to my youth, it is cool that the demo used is the same as the old Xbox demo I remember playing all those years ago (The level that is).
The visuals are the most obvious changes to the original game; very colourful and runs surprisingly well with very little bugs or crashes. Minute details can also be seen within the game, which adds nice amounts of detail such as mud clinging onto Crypto and ash and charred earth upon use of more destructive weaponry. The weapons are back and better than ever, with more impact and are just as visually satisfying to see used upon those pathetic humans. And of course, the flying saucer, bringing much hellfire and destruction with equal amounts of spectacular visuals!
However, there are a few things I have noted which seems a little off, but over time will be used to hopefully. Firstly the cutscenes; mostly the lip synching and animations seem a little stiff at the moment. Secondly, the controls for using Crypto's abilities seem a bit strange, since I'm used to the old controller scheme of holding the trigger and a button, rather than a singular button. And finally, the characters, mostly the humans, just look a bit off. Almost like a cartoon made digital.
But overall, the game plays great! Looking forward to the games release!
