Disappointing.

Pros: Nice art and graphics. Entertaining, humorous story that lampoons a lot of old science fiction. Cons: The controls could be better. No real free roam. Autosaves override the one you generated initially and there is no way to trace back to the final mission, this might be due to the game's age, but it robs you of flexibility, especially if the saucer needs upgrades. The saucer itself was pretty horrible to fly. For a humorous shooter I would have preferred less sneaking and more options to just shoot your way through most tragets. The only actually difficult segment is the boss fight at the end, replaying stealth segments can be annoying, though.

Looked fun...

I played the first mission, and the game looked fun! - The graphics looked nice, especially the lights and colors - The dialogues were funny, had a bit of an oldschool feeling (in a good way) - The controls felt a bit clunky (although I mostly play FPS shooters or Third person RPGs, so maybe it was just not something that I'm used to) - The cutscenes were also done well - Loved the voices and the music was spot on Then I looked up the game and found out that it was a remake (nothing wrong with that), and what got my attention was the fact that it was released in 2020. So I searched and found out that the remake's devs cut content just (!) becasue they didn't liked them... Guess that's what happens when devs with "modern mentality" touch older games... There is no way I'd support any game that got this kind of mentality, ideology etc around it - where it comes from (devs, publisher) is irrelevant. Refunded! If you don't care about this kind of stuff, then give it a try.

Amazing!! Better than the 2005 original!

This is absolutely incredible fun. I'm saying this as a die-hard fan of Destroy All Humans 2, who was initially disapointed when I first played the original 2005 Destroy all Humans. This remake feels so much better in terms of content, refinement and optimisation and still feels so familiar to a fan such as myself. One or two bugs but no crashes nor game breaking moments, just the odd weirdness in AI or map loading. Amazing fun in an amazing sandbox power fantasy. Pretty easy all the way throughout, until the final boss which is somewhat challenging, but still a really fun boss fight. Movement mechanics are sublime!! Without the jetpack and skate features this game would be far less enjoyable! It feels so good to the race around the streets blowing stuff up! TK powers are great fun and are so underutilised in modern games. Saucer sections are a little off for me (as the sound is quite muffled during saucer sections so it is hard to really hear the impact of your destruction) - that being said sound design is amazing in every other aspect of this game!! I love the sense of humour - then again, this series defined my sense of humour so it may be a bit odd for some people. Graphics are fantastic and fit the aesthetic so damn well. Great progression system and sandbox maps - everything feels far more fleshed out than the original. Amazing mouse and keyboard support, although the gameplay controls do show their age at times (button mashing moments). A really unique game at its original launch and it remains unique to this day. Now I just desperately wish for a rerelease of Destroy All Humans 2, because that is a better game in almost every single aspect (I admit I'm biased). Path of the Furon is also worth a rerelease as that was a insanely fun yet buggy mess at launch. Big Willy doesn't exist so dont bother with that one... For fans - an absolute MUST-BUY For non-fans - well worth your time and money if you like quirky fun and destructive sandbox games.

A classic remastered

This was one of my favorite games growing up and the remaster has sanded off the ugly bits and really made this game shine. It runs great with very minimal frame drops or glitches, and the graphics are beautiful with the saucer in particular looking fantastic. Negatives first as there isn't much. Collecting the probes is annoying, they seem to be tucked away in odd places The mission side objectives can be very tedious, but you can redo missions at any time and finish the side objectives piecemeal which minimizes the issues. The bosses are absolute damage sponges. Very common in the playstation 2 era, very annoying now. The good! The dialogue is unchanged and delightful, Crypto and Pox are standout memorable characters, with certain moments giving real depth to Crypto in particular. The weapons are extremely satisfying to utilize, with my favorite being the grenade lobber. The sense of humor that pervades this game is great, with hints of B Movies, political humor, jabs at the 50s homophobia, and even some modern references squeezed into the remaster. The upgrades add something to soak up to the amounts of dna you pick up through the game and each makes you even more deadly than the last. Destructible environments! If you can see it, you can destroy it with either your guns or your saucer. I really hope we get a remaster of 2 as well, and I look forward to seeing what THQ Nordic comes out with in the future!
