Desperados III

I have never played an RTT game before this, but this is one of the finest games I have played in years. It's nice to play something that has meaty mechanics and replayability in mind, and also manages to be effectively bloatless. The graphics aren't anything to sneeze at either, Mimimi makes Unity look a hell of a lot better than most Unreal games. Combine those aspects with a stellar score and great voice acting, and you get a fun, tactical stealth game that oozes with charm. Can't recommend this enough.

and it's a pretty decent sequel to the Desperados series. I've been torn whether this games deserves a five star, on one hand it's much better and more polished than Shadow Tactics, on the other, the gameplay can be immensely frustrating because the whole game is made on the basis of quicksave/quickload and not killing/knocking out anyone is usually never worth it because it's inconsequential and there is no penalty for killing too many people. So it's not a stealth game in the regard of sneaking about undetected, more so about stealthily taking down enemies. Another good thing is that Mimimi gave rope to tie up unconscious enemies, although they kind of overkilled it with the amount of characters that carry rope, it's a welcome addition, since knockouts in the ST were painfully useless. Lastly, the story was meh and the ending was extremely anti-climactic, that's all.

The multitude of different skills the characters have makes stealth clearing a scenario quite creative. There are many different ways to go about it. It can be slow with many save/retry cycles but the payoff of finally braking an area is very satisfying. I find it very difficult on the beginner/easy setting, but only 1 scenario (where they lost all their equipment) had me frustrated and wanting it even easier. All in all I enjoyed this game very much.

Having played all desperados games, this one really brought back memories while being a true RTT, sadly people don't understand nowadays this type of games and the developer closed doors. Hopefully the genre won't disappear, we need more games with soul like this one, graphically, gameplay, character wise, it's stunning. I wholeheartedly recommend this title, it gives so much satisfaction when you complete a mission just by your own planning, and boy there are a lot of ways to do that :) 10\10 PS: the series was there way before shaddow tactics, along with the 1st commandos titles, very loved games ,MiMiMi just revived a classical after they managed to hit the market with ST, which indeed was a very good game!

Desperados III scratches an itch that for me haven't been scratched since the Commandos series. It plays pretty much exactly like Commandos with a few improvements. The ability to freeze time and queue up simultaneous actions on multiple characters is a nice addition for example. The story is a bit meh, but then you probably aren't playing this sort of game for its captivating story. This is all about huge, detailed maps crawling with enemies that you need to navigate through using a small group of characters with unique abilities and Desparados totally delivers.
