Rufus is not a pleasant guy. Ill-tempered and entirely too convinced of his own greatness, he lives at the edge of a small settlement somewhere in the most remote sector of the garbage-covered planet Deponia. He dreams of a better life in the floating cities of wealth and beauty high above the planet surface. When the angelic Goal falls from these privileged spheres down into a neighboring trash heap, Rufus sees his chance. He decides to bring the unconscious beauty back to her home. Only a vague hope of making it off Deponia at first, he soon formulates an unscrupulous plan, as he learns that he is a dead ringer for Goal’s upper-class husband. The planned handover is only the beginning of a wild chase across Deponia full of twists, turns and mystifying mix-ups.

Its like Monkey Islands little brother, not quite as funny and the main character isn't as likeable but the story is good and the settings are quality. Well worth a shot.
Deponia reminded me, that I actually don't like point and click adventures. If you love the puzzles in Monkey Island and solved them all by yourself, this will probably be your game. If you don't like combining things in a particular and unforseeable way just because the story needs it, keep away from it. Without walk through, I wouldn't have continued after the first chapter. The story has its funny parts and I liked the old school graphics. That kept me reading the walkthrough while clicking myself trough the game. But the story is utterly flat. I would even call the main story nothing but sexistic stereotype. I've played worse games than this, but don't feel like continuing in the series.
Being a fan of old classics like monkey island and broken sword I had high hopes for this game. They were in vain.
The good:
Graphics - it's pretty!
The bad:
Characters - they can't be liked. Main character is a jerk. And not the funny one.
Humor - as per protagonist... it's sad.
Gameplay - you need to pretty much click every dialogue option, try every item to get through this disappointment. As some people said, puzzles get into complete nonsense that drags on ad infinum.
A very short game but really worth your while and money. From the story telling, music, and butt jokes, it's like this game was made for me! I just installed GOG Galaxy then I bumped into this. I'm buying the whole series while they're all on sale, Christmas came early and like a warm welcome from GOG. This game is an absolute gem.
I started out playing this game and fell in love, the humor is quirky, the art-style is great, my first adventure game was Monkey Island 3 and I was mesmerized by the 2D art style and had been looking for more games in that trend, resulting in me buying Deponia.
This was fulfilling my pleasure UNTIL I got to a point where I couldn't play it no more because, sadly I only own a mac. After a while throughout the game you will get to the point where you can't play any further because you can't select further dialogue options to the screen cut off (and changing resolution does not help, not to mention that it's quite a hassle changing resolution as you have to restart the game every time to see the effect.)
If you own a pc, (probably) a great game. If you own a mac, there are enough great point & click games out there.
