Description
Rufus is not a pleasant guy. Ill-tempered and entirely too convinced of his own greatness, he lives at the edge of a small settlement somewhere in the most remote sector of the garbage-covered planet Deponia. He dreams of a better life in the floating cities of wealth and beauty high above the planet surface. When the angelic Goal falls from these privileged spheres down into a neighboring trash heap, Rufus sees his chance. He decides to bring the unconscious beauty back to her home. Only a vague hope of making it off Deponia at first, he soon formulates an unscrupulous plan, as he learns that he is a dead ringer for Goal’s upper-class husband. The planned handover is only the beginning of a wild chase across Deponia full of twists, turns and mystifying mix-ups.

Deponia is a fast-paced comedy of errors and one of the most unusual love stories in gaming history. The twist-filled story takes its off-beat characters all over trash planet Deponia, a unique game world in the style of Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett and Matt Groening. From Kuvaq, an improvised village built inside a giant trash heap, to the swimming black market and the dark corners of the elevated planetary railways: The new adventure game from the makers of The Whispered World, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout and A New Beginning is brought to life with detailed hand-painted backgrounds in widescreen format and top-quality cartoon animation.

  • Unique comic style with hand-drawn HD resolution 2D graphics.
  • Bizarre characters and wacky humor.
  • Challenging puzzles and hours of dialogue.
  • Unique universe in the tradition of Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett and Matt Groening.
  • From the creators of the award-winning games Edna & Harvey: The Breakout, Edna & Harvey: Harvey’s New Eyes, and The Whispered World.

For a Better Tomorrow!

Does anyone noticed the hidden theme of most of the deadalic ent. games? OK. Not so hidden. Enviroment, overgrown population, pollution. I've even noticed at the end of the Nigth of the Rabbit at the Cold Tree, when the Mouse with a Backpack is appealing. But I think that's ok, it has a serious gravity of matter.

Quite simply brilliant

A fun and beautiful game that really showcases the zany charm that point & click games can have. Deponia has it all: fun puzzles, a gripping story with plenty of insane humor and gorgeous visuals.

Deponia (mini-review)

This is the first part, out of a 3 part adventure story, where the main character is Rufus, a pathologically egotistical individual, that wants to escape from a planet that is now all filled with junk. I found out that middle click would highlight all the objects that you can interact with, close to the end of the game but I didn't had any real problems finding objects as the art style is pretty well done. The game has humor everywhere and unless you really get stuck, it's a really fun experience. I don't normally play adventures, so when I say that I didn't use any walkthroughs, it means that the game is not that difficult and things are generally intuitive enough. There are also a few fun puzzles thrown in there that you can skip if you want. *Editors' Choice* Rating: I, me, and mine! http://pixelloot.com

Lost in Translation

I love these imported European title! Deplonia's art style first grabbed me along with it's far-flung plot, but it kept me playing to the end. The puzzles follow reasonable logic, so I never felt frustrated playing through the title, along me to keep a satisfying pace through the title. It was just the right length to keep me interested and entertains, so I jumped at the sequel when it was released.

Good but short game

I just finished Deponia, and it was a really good experience. The number one thing is the "graphics". It looks wonderful. The characters are ok, I didn't like the main guy a lot, he is such a jerk. But many of the supporting characters are great. The puzzles are good, most are "more or less" logical. The mini games are often a bit boring, but you can skip them if you don't want to waste time. The major downside of the game it's length and you need to be prepared for an abrupt ending. Personally I didn't find the ending very bad, but the game was short. That said I would recomend this game to anyone who likes point-and-click andventures.
