You are Isaac Clarke, an engineer on the spacecraft USG Ishimura. You're not a warrior. You're not a soldier. You are, however, the last line of defense between the remaining living crew and deadly reanimated corpses. The undead have become Necromorphs; horrific zombie-alien hybrids that won't succumb to traditional means. Fortunately, your offense is equally unique, as the high-powered mining tools at your disposal provide the means to fight against the threat.
Messy monster slaying.
The Necromorphs are unlike any enemies you've seen before. Headshots do about as much damage to them as flicking rubber bands. To survive, you'll need to dismember their insect-like limbs, one at a time.
Improvised weapons.
There aren't many traditional firearms aboard the Ishimura, but there's plenty of stopping power in Isaac's toolkit. Send horizontal or vertical blasts of energy at enemies with the Plasma Cutter, remotely control a high-speed sawblade with the Disc Ripper, and fill hallways with wide swaths of destruction with the Line Gun. Switch things up with alternate fire modes, and purchase upgrades to increase ammo, power, and reload speed.
Real-time attacks.
Whatever you do, don’t drop your guard. Everything takes place in real-time. That means any action you take, whether it be reloading or digging through your inventory, gives the Necromorphs a perfect opportunity to attack. This nightmare has just begun and it’s up to you to get to the bottom of what happened here.
I own the game on origin, i see that there are a lot of people complaining about the pc port. Disabling v sync ingame and enabling it from the nvidia panel control fixed every issue for me. Must play in the genre. The sequel, dead space is even better
This game won't work modern computers. There's an issue with vsync that causes certain scripted events to not happen, because they're tied to your framerate for some reason. Because of this it's impossible to progress beyond the intro. Look up "Dead Space invisible door" if you want details. I tried the recommended fixes, and it still doesn't work. This game is unplayable, in the actual and literal sense.
Some nice ideas and the automatic saving helped me avoiding a lot of time loss, but to me it's clearly a parody, this game managed to get me entertain for 6 hours, bore me the next 6 hours, and finally stayed on my computer for 24 hours, as I had 12 hours doing anything else than playing this game. Some nice ideas, like interesting HUD, and some other features I won't spoil for you, but clearly not a fun game for me. Jumpscares, corridors and scripts will be the only things you see in it, the graphics are not bad but not good, the story is written by a lazy person, and shooting monsters is more enjoyable in a lot of other games. It barely reaches 11/20 on my list.
This simply doesn't run properly on PC. It is slow and cumbersome trying to do anything. Just trying to change direction takes an eternity, even after turning the mouse sensitivity up to the max.
There are graphical glitches galore, eg the video (which you can't bypass) at the start of the game extrusions of one of the character's hair starts morphing and then stretching across the screen. This continues to happen even as I move through the scene to the main platform. I thought maybe a driver update would fix the problem, but no, I'm already running the latest driver.
Movement is virtually impossible, particularly when my character cannot move through an open door. It was about this time that I realised this game wasn't worth the effort. I understand it was a good solid game on consoles when it was first released but to be frank, this is garbage on the PC. I'll be uninstalling this one. Very disappointing.
