You are Isaac Clarke, an engineer on the spacecraft USG Ishimura. You're not a warrior. You're not a soldier. You are, however, the last line of defense between the remaining living crew and deadly reanimated corpses. The undead have become Necromorphs; horrific zombie-alien hybrids that won't succumb to traditional means. Fortunately, your offense is equally unique, as the high-powered mining tools at your disposal provide the means to fight against the threat.
Messy monster slaying.
The Necromorphs are unlike any enemies you've seen before. Headshots do about as much damage to them as flicking rubber bands. To survive, you'll need to dismember their insect-like limbs, one at a time.
Improvised weapons.
There aren't many traditional firearms aboard the Ishimura, but there's plenty of stopping power in Isaac's toolkit. Send horizontal or vertical blasts of energy at enemies with the Plasma Cutter, remotely control a high-speed sawblade with the Disc Ripper, and fill hallways with wide swaths of destruction with the Line Gun. Switch things up with alternate fire modes, and purchase upgrades to increase ammo, power, and reload speed.
Real-time attacks.
Whatever you do, don’t drop your guard. Everything takes place in real-time. That means any action you take, whether it be reloading or digging through your inventory, gives the Necromorphs a perfect opportunity to attack. This nightmare has just begun and it’s up to you to get to the bottom of what happened here.
We are speaking of a masterpiece here. To love horror and gore is required. Gameplay is typical survival game as you have expereinced in Resident Evil and many more games. The Story is great. I can only advice, unfortunately visceral games is no more, they probably would have deserved more respect. This game is great, you should definetely give it a try. And the price is so fair.
Because that's what I did the first time I played this game. No joke.
So what IS Dead Space? Well, to answer that I must first ask you two important questions...
Have you played RE4? If so, great.
Have you watched Alien? Phenomenal.
Well, what this game does is basically mix those two to create an extremely atmospheric survival horror game.
AMMO is scarce, which will make you hesitate with each bullet you spend on killing this game's xenomorph-like creatures. Sure, there are buttons for stomping and punching, but those 2 won't get you too far in the harder difficulties.
The game is also really atmospheric, It keeps you on your toes even when there's seemingly nothing in a room, wary of what might be lurking around the corner. And I especially love how the game plays with audio cues.
But you really need to play the game by yourself to know what I'm talking about.
And did I mention there are bosses?
That combined with the intricate map system kind of makes it feel metroidvania-ish, which is obviously a good thing.
Seriously, just get this game, it is worth every penny.
Running Win 10 64, i7 CPU, 32Gb RAM and an EVGA 970. The only issue I had was with the Xbox controller. The main character, Isaac, would randomly raise his weapon, sometimes to the point I couldn't access the menu or walk. Fortunately, the solution was simple but frustrating. I had to unplug the controller and then plug it back during game pause to stop the raising of the weapon. This fix would last for 30 minutes or 5 minutes. I never did figure out what would trigger it and I don't know why it would start at random times after plugging it back in. Weird. I was able to finish the game but, man, it was annoying. I could have used the keyboard/mouse but I have never liked using the mouse/keyboard combo for action games. That being said, there is a mini game you must complete in order to continue the game. I bet I tried 8 times with the controller but still kept dying; it's an aiming thing. I swapped over to the mouse from the controller and was able to complete the mini game with no problems. I had better control with the mouse than the controller in the mini game. Hope that helps someone.
The graphics, for the game's age, and voice acting were great. I like that there are three difficulty settings and the menu is easy to learn. There are elements of surprise but nothing, to me, which scared my pants off. I would classify this game as a sci-fi thriller. I did like the ending.
I didn't knock off a star because of the controller issue or that it felt like I was playing Doom 3. Even though I do like this game and may play it again later on, I just didn't think it was a 5 star game. That doesn't mean it isn't, it's just my opinion of the game.
This has to be one of the best Game I played in a long time. And didn't EA say they didn't want there games on steam after they got Origin?

Conclusion ★★★★
My overall conclusion of this game is really positive i really like this game it keeps me on my toes and keeps making me jump it full of jump-scare and will keep your attention on the game. the story is really good too and you can feel they have use time and energy on the game. this is one of my favorites games.
I love this game so much, and I don't even like gory games in general!
Everything about it is just about perfect, from the controls and movement, to difficulty levels and variety of enemies, and especially the Ishimura - it is literally the best space ship design in video games and feels completely real and practical!
The weapons give you many options to play this game the way you want, and the starting weapon is definitely not some throw away pop gun - you can complete the whole game only using it! You get some suitable abilities to help you too, like telekenisis and time manipulation (somehow, don't ask!) that add to the fun, and destroying monsters with their own projectiles NEVER gets old!
This game is around 10 years old now, and still holds up fairly well today visually, in fact I am still astonished that PS3 and Xbox 360 could pull these visuals off! Gameplay is great fun, and the locations are suitably creepy and scary, and the sound design, it sounds more like a movie than a video game!
This game was heavily influenced by Resident Evil 4, and having played both I can say if you like RE4 you WILL love Dead Space, and once you're done, Dead Space 2 is even better!
