Dead Cells puts you in control of a failed alchemic experiment trying to figure out what's happening on a sprawling, ever-changing and seemingly cursed Island. Immortal but crippled, your last resort is to take over bodies in order to move, explore… and fight.
While you may well be immortal, the corpses you possess are not. Each time your host is destroyed, you will be sent back to the dungeon to find yourself a new one and start again...
Experience a Roguevania, mixing an interconnected world, branching paths and unlockable skills with the constant adrenaline-pumping threat of permadeath. No checkpoints. You either vanquish the final boss in one go or you try again. However, you keep some of your progress for successive runs new paths you’ve unlocked, access to new levels, mutations, abilities and weapons.
Tough but fair combat, responsive controls, challenging foes, and of course, the emergency panic roll to get you out of trouble make for a visceral and cathartic action game.

I have absolutely zero passion fore roguelikes. Could never play one for more then an hour at best.
This said I couldn't let this game down. It's action packed but that is just the stage for the absolutely seemless combat experience. The combat in this game might just be the most fluid I ever played.
5/5 for the engaging combat, graphics and weapon diversity.
6/5 for native linux support
This is my favourite game this year!
I expected it to be decent, but not this good. At first it seems very difficult, but then you realise that it gives a lot of room to actually avoid hits. With a bit of practise you end up going through entire levels without getting hit, while annihilating every single enemy. Then you get cocky and die to the first trivial enemy on the next level.
The pacing is fast and fluid unlike in Dark Souls. Plenty of items and weapons to make each run unique. Levels are well made and always similar in length, while also varying to keep them from becoming obvious. I really like the controls and the responsiveness of the character, it feels like I'm total control of every action.
Overall superbly well made! This level of quality is very difficult to find from any game.
The Devs are giving CD Projekt Red a run for their money in regards to putting gamers first. Simply - one of the best games and dev teams in existence. Thanks *so* much for all of your support.
Picked this game up on my switch around the same time I bought Hollow Knight (another must own game in my opinion) and at first I hated the perma-death aspect of the game but later grew to love it since unlike other games I've played the fear and anxiety that comes from all your hard work being somewhat totally lost is much more present than just getting sent pack to a save point. Personally I love the soundtrack as well as the graphics. The combat is fast as hell, especially at later stages, but it's incredibly fair. The game has a wide arrange of weapons and builds you can make w/ a sort of risk-reward level up system. The only thing I can really say I don't like about the game is that some of the boss fights seem very bland. Like the rest of the game is balls to the walls type of fun but when the boss fights comes around it just turns into dodge, hit, dodge spam which in my opinion can get very boring but nontheless this is a must own.
No documentation - you need a wiki to see how half of the mechanics work and what the items do. The devs were just too lazy to add that information in the game.
DLC sections are generated in the game, but not available unless purchased. You'd travel for 10 minutes down a corridor only to be faced with a dead end unless you BUY THE DLC FOR $9.99!!!!! Pathetic and insulting behavior.
Full of bugs too that the devs also don't bother fixing. Makes you wonder why you should bother purchasing the game instead of pirating it...
