Dead Cells is a roguelite, metroidvania inspired, action-platformer. You'll explore a sprawling, ever-changing castle... assuming you’re able to fight your way past its keepers in 2D souls-lite combat. No checkpoints. Kill, die, learn, repeat.
Dead Cells puts you in control of a failed alchemic experiment trying to figure out what's happening on a sprawling, ever-changing and seemingly cursed Island. Immortal but crippled, your last resort is to take over bodies in order to move, explore… and fight.
While you may well be immortal, the corpses you possess are not. Each time your host is destroyed, you will be sent back to the dungeon to find yourself a new one and start again...
Experience a Roguevania, mixing an interconnected world, branching paths and unlockable skills with the constant adrenaline-pumping threat of permadeath. No checkpoints. You either vanquish the final boss in one go or you try again. However, you keep some of your progress for successive runs new paths you’ve unlocked, access to new levels, mutations, abilities and weapons.
Tough but fair combat, responsive controls, challenging foes, and of course, the emergency panic roll to get you out of trouble make for a visceral and cathartic action game.

An amazing game ruined by its own ego
4/5th's of this game is incredible. The pacing is great, the gameplay loop is fun, the weapons are a blast to use, and the difficulty scaling is fair. The final difficulty level decides to get rid of those great things and instead be poorly made, lazy trash. What a shame the ending is locked behind it, the game is a 5/5 until it turns into a 2/5.

Started playing since a week, I'm loving it. It's hard, but rewards persistence. Best part is that it allows to unlock perks/abilities/new weapons as long as you play, and the most part of those can be used when you respawn. I noticed bugs with the current version, especially lag and crack sounds when the gameis paused, or fps drops when too particellar effects are in the same area. Despite this, it's something I would like to recommend.

Great game.
Really, I haven't had so much fun (and deaths) for a long time. Despite being in early acces i haven't see any problems/bug in the game and there are updates from time to time adding tons of stuff. It's well designed both in gameplay and art side. About the gameplay I can say it's one of this games which are easy to lern but hard to master.... which gives A LOT OF FUN.

Great game, not for the faint of heart
This game is great. Combat is fast-paced and feels fun, the pixel art style is gorgeous and the lore is interesting and mysterious. The progression system of gathering cells in a stage and handing them in when you beat that stage works well, with the constant threat of losing them all when you die. However, before you buy this, you should know what you're getting into: this game is hard. Like, really hard. The first few stages will become very easy after a few times, but the later stages and bosses are tough and whenever you die, you restart at the very beginning and only keep the upgrades you unlocked (Roguelite!) The point is: if you want to play through the full game you'll need to put in a lot of time to learn the enemy movements and stages. If you don't have that time, or you aren't very good at difficult games, I recommend looking past this one.
